Another example of R&R's being intimated I reckon just to put you off the scent. I mean, what the hell can he/they do with that.
Just carry on regardless imo..

plastic_screw wrote:bit OTT maybe but i challenge them to see which car i get into, plus you fight a losing battle if there is cctv in car park. then you may as well just give up!!
Unless, when a security guard is following you, you go home on the bus, and get a friend/partner to come and pick the car up later.
I think some Tesco car parks have a warning that if you park for too long etc they will obtain your details from DVLA and fine you.. There were some newspaper articles recently about whether DVLA should be allowed to release details in this way. Obviously that is intended for breaking the parking rules rather than R&Rs...0 -

Who knows...
Every Tesco has a very sophisticated number plate recognition system, you will now be on their radar- beware !
I am sure Spa can confirm this for you0 -
They must be able to get your personal details from the reg no. - my local tesco has installed cameras in the car park and there is a big Warning Sign saying that your vehicle will be photographed and if you stay longer than 2 hours there is a wacking great fine ! They state very clearly that they will get your address for the fine from DVLC records. I imagine they could (if they made a good exuse) get your correct name and address - quite how they would justify sending around the Tesco Terror Squad is quite another thing !ELITE 5:2

Another thing about car registrations, I notice some service stations and airport car parking have automatic number plate recognitions. Possibly petrol stations do as well, in case of drive-offs.
For example I parked at Gatwick, a camera at the entrance recorded my number plate and it was printed on my parking ticket. Presumably it was then verified at the exit to make sure I was leaving in the same car.
My point is that while iris recognition isn't yet viable, number plate recognition is. I wonder if you get some R&Rs in cash in the shop, and then go and fill up with petrol using a credit card, whether an on-the-ball security person could find out your name in this way.0 -

You would not believe we are just talking about simple RnRs - you know - the compensation customers get if and when Tesco overcharge them. Perhaps Tesco should take on the job of the Police force and use the same zealous approach to help catch real criminals! They seem to have some innocent shoppers on here running for their lives with their tactics. !!!!!!.DTD - Doing Tesco Daily - while I still have vouchers!0

All this talk of number plates is very cloak & dagger.
Dont take it too seriously, you must of upset someone in that store. Keep a low profile for a while.0 -
Touch of paranoia setting in with regards to the car park camera systems maybe, my bro in law had his motorbike stolen from an all singing, all dancing Tesco. There was not clear enough camera footage to make out anything out even though he was parked well within the camera's parameters0
