on the barcode which digits are lot numbers? thx
  • Someone else has posted about the Xbox 360 on the misprices thread. Have a read. Looks like it applies to the core pack, not premium (judging by the price mentioned).
I thought that when you bought an XBox 360 console that it was the DVD box that's scanned - i.e. not the XBox packaging itself?

If you ask will an assistant nip into the store room and bring out the actual XBox for you?

Normally, it is. However, if you read what the OP wrote, he asked for a specific lot number, which required the member of staff to get stock out for him to check. I guess the cashier then scanned the actual console box, rather than a DVD case.
In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

It is normally but you need to get the assistant to go out back and check the boxes for the lot number, they bring the xbox out and scan it dont take the dvd case to the desk.

At that price, I would say it's safe to assume that it's the core pack. ;)

Yeah just clicked with that... hmmmm... sounds like the barcodes have changed between the old and newer packinging if it's not scanning properly....

I'd like to exchange Shaggy Dog for a different DVD (same price) - is it likely that I will be allowed to do this as I've had and RnR on it and the receipt is marked ? I'm inclined to try - the worst they can say is 'no' - but I wondered how others had got on in simiar situations.

It really depends what they've written on the receipt.

If they've written 'refunded' then, to be blunt, the answer's no. (Although many branches of W.H.Smith will let you exchange it or even give you a cash refund, depending on how pedantic the person on the till is).

However, if they've marked the receipt with an illegible bit of scribble, which they often do, then I'd take it back to another branch and ask for a refund (which is known as a Golden R+R) or an exchange. If they question the scribble on the receipt, say you paid at the till but had to collect the item from the CS desk, and the scribble was just to say you'd collected it. I've had a large run of Golden R+Rs lately on games and DVDs using that technique.

Fair enough but I don't agree with you when there are two white sels for a product it is definitely store specific.
    it isnt store specific.
what happens is that when a different batch of stock comes in this is normally at a different price to the existing one.(usually higher) and when that product is put on the shelf most of the time the old sel is stil there. but the price is of the newer one(more expensive)
