If they've written 'refunded' then, to be blunt, the answer's no. (Although many branches of W.H.Smith will let you exchange it or even give you a cash refund, depending on how pedantic the person on the till is).
However, if they've marked the receipt with an illegible bit of scribble, which they often do, then I'd take it back to another branch and ask for a refund (which is known as a Golden R+R) or an exchange. If they question the scribble on the receipt, say you paid at the till but had to collect the item from the CS desk, and the scribble was just to say you'd collected it. I've had a large run of Golden R+Rs lately on games and DVDs using that technique.
Taxiphil, tbw, are you not missing the obvious?
If tbw wants a DVD which SCANS at the same price as Shaggy Dog, he should just go and buy it. Tesco receipts are fantastic as they only say 'DVD' (or 'Book' etc) and you can use them to take back another item that scans the same. Just make sure there is no lower sticker on the one you are returning, and I assume it's sealed so no problem with a return.
OK tbw?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

orainsear wrote:Yeah just clicked with that... hmmmm... sounds like the barcodes have changed between the old and newer packinging if it's not scanning properly....
Its usually the dvd case thats scanned so perhaps these scan correct but any actual xbox box won't.
It may be nothing to do with the batch number but simply getting an actual xbox scanned thats needed. Just a thought.0 -

Given the failed attempts listed above - any chance this could be a wind-up designed to get you XBOX-hunters out of your holes and into the dark, cold evenings.....

whos failed, reading back it seems one person was unlucky that they were caught out was 'cearanda' and the original poster said he spotted it by accident, who knows if the lot number thing is true, only premiums around me which have been reduced in price, so who knows if the premiums are involved0 -
well i could take mine to get my money back (scan it before hand)and let you all know if you want
damn should of scanned it on the way out thinking back0 -
It maybe that the lot number has little to do with the overprice on the xbox 360. (i maybe wrong of course) looking at my 360 the barcode on the box has numbers 355 under it)
Is it the fact the box is scanned rather than the dvd display case which has a barcode generated by tesco. so if you can get someone to scan the box (whatever reason you use, ver number lot number the fact you wana see if its the right package with the bits ) then it may well scan at the higher price.
Good luck to anyone who gets it, and well done to OP for posting his find.
