I've edited my post..can you do same please...last thing I want to do is get any staff in trouble!!

Right, I've been asked a couple of points in pm's ..so I'll try and explain more fully........I went with the dummy displaybox on the store shelf to CS...and asked about the lower number blahblah.... She called over a lady who deals with electricals...PLEASE remember this is a small shop!!the lady came over...and took me to the back of the store, asked me to wait and went into the store -room and brought out 2 360's. Both boxes had same lot number on the side. These are the ACTUAL Xbox360 in their box NOT a dummy box!!
The number is on the side of the box.. there's 2 or 3 sets of numbers..look for the last few digits, they were 610 ( i.e. less than 633 ).

I took the ACTUAL BOXED 360 and went to check-out with it to pay my hard earned cash.......the rest as they say is history..... :-)

I had no idea it would scan incorrectly ...I was only concerned that it was a Samsung drive and not an Hitachi.....for reasons stated. I was damn lucky in that I needed an older 360....and actively looked for a smaller shop where they might not sell them very often/quickly. That was my only concern, I never even thought about a mis-price, I'd assumed that had been killed off a while back and it never crossed my mind !! Some admission from a devoted MSE'er , eh??

In fact I was so delighted.. I very nearly missed the obvious....which in retrospect was bloody embarrassing!! Hope that answers the pm's I've had......and would be equally grateful if Ole removed the offending info. Guess, I was just too excited to realise I'd been stupid with imparting specific details....sorry!

if i had known then what i know now

    Lower barcode or LOT number?
  • My only problem with this is if more than 1 person does it in a store then it will be clear the individuals are serial r&rers!

Be careful if you choose this one, it may well bite you hard on the preverbial.
    I had a plan..........its here somewhere.

The LOT numbers are printed on a white sticker that's on the packaging. 4 digits, usually starts with a 0

    e.g. 0615
  • I tried the Xbox misprice at one of the smaller stores in Manchester with no luck unfortunately. As neither me nor the girl I asked had any idea what or where the lot number was, she finally managed to bring one out with a lot number ending in 533. According to policy, she had to drop it off at customer services so I didn't get the chance to scan it. When I went up to the counter, the girl scanned it, I saw the price come up at £192.97 but then for some reason she queried it with someone and I was told the price was £184.97  . I made my excuses and left. I think it confirms it's not a one off, so hopefully it'll work for somebody!
