I've just received another call from 01515 493160 on my mobile; I answered it to give them a piece of my mind! This time there was a person (with a strong Liverpool accent) on the line; he asked if I was "Mrs Lethbury" - I'm not "Mrs" anything!! and I've had this number for well over 10 years!
Anyway, I asked who HE was; he replied that he was "Shaun from Domestic Solutions" I told him to stop calling this number as I did not want unsolicited sales calls and he replied "is that any way to ask someone nicely?" - the audacity of these 'phishers'!!
I have looked on the Companies House website and there is no company of that name registered, so obviously no easy route of complaint.
Has anyone else had calls from this supposed company?
Has anyone else had unsolicited calls on an unpublished mobile number?
I have saved the number as 'phishing' on my phone and if they call again I will simply reject the call, but I'm finding it very annoying that my privacy is being invaded in this way by people who are obviously scamming in some way!
Thanks
Gertie
Edit: I've just spoken to BT's nusiance line about this number; it IS a business, it isn't a BT number, it ISN'T called Domestic Solutions, they can't tell me what the name of the business is, due to the Data Protection Act, but it seems it is a firm of 'ambulance chasers' - sheesh, will these people stop at nothing to make us into a country of litigants???0 -
0151 is the code for Liverpool / Merseyside so that could be the reason for the Liverpool accent.
The cheek, if only you could go around and give them a slap.
0151 549 3160
Domestic SolutionsIt's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

It is actually the Simonswood area of Liverpool as determined by: http://www.magsys.co.uk/telecom/codelook.asp
I have had some luck in determining the postcode from a phone number using an online broadband checker and the postcode list on on my GPS system.
In general terms, you first look on the internet to find out what range of postcodes are assigned to 0151 549 xxxx. You can do this by typing "0151 549" into Google. Once you have the range of postcodes you then search trough postcodes in that range from your GPS system (this avoids searching for non-existent postcodes).
You then type the phone number and a postcode into a broadband availability checker, such as: http://www.talktalk.co.uk/talktalk/servlet/gben-server-PageServer?article=MAIN.UK.TALKTALK.STATIC.TTACPAGES.T2IBB
Repeat using other postcodes until you get a match.
Finding the house number may not be possible on the internet but, on average, a postcode covers 15 properties (large businesses may have their own).
Heinz can attest to the fact that this system works! He gave me his phone number and I called him back and told him his postcode about a couple of hours later - yes it can be a little time-consuming!
I am a little unsure that the system will work on DDI numbers.0 -

Just to bring this one back from the grave to update it. I've just had an automated call from 0151 549 3160 asking me to call back on an 0800 number. Calling back on the 0151 number I ended up speaking to someone calling himself Lee Orrell, the company name is "Assist a Solution" and their address is The Kea Buildings, North Mersey Business Centre, Liverpool L33 7UY. The idea is they ask me three questions , do I need motor insurance, have I had an accident in the last three years or do I need debt relief. If I answer yes to any of them they assist me in finding the solution! According to Lee they aren't covered by the TPS as they aren't a sales company selling me something and they got my number from a commercial database. Sounds like B.S. to me so next stop is the online TPS complaints form.0

I've just moved to London a couple of weeks ago from America, to join my partner. For some time now she has been getting silent calls on both her landline and her mobile from 0800 422 0292.
I started to do some checking for her yesterday, and found that this phone number is Capital One. I have to assume (because she's never gotten anything but SILENT calls) that they are trying to get her to either take out a loan, refinance a mortgage, or apply for a credit card.
The sort of ironic part of this is that she already HAS a Capital One credit card, and they recently lowered her limit on the card because her finances have changed due to severe chronic illness. If they would check the numbers that they're calling against a list of current customers, I doubt they would call her again!
So, hello to everyone here, and I hope someone (or many someones!) can answer some questions for me as I try to get these calls to stop for her:
1 - does anyone have experience with calls from this number?
2 - if so, what exactly ARE they trying to get her to buy/apply for?
3 - since I'm just recently transplanted to the UK, I'm not sure of which websites and organizations are legitimate and which are scams, regarding blocking silent calls and cold calls. I found TPS, and discovered that her landline was already registered with them, and registered her mobile. After some more research, I went to OFCOM, but haven't finished registering the phone number, because I'm not POSITIVE who her telephone carrier is. All of the other helpful-looking websites have been criticized for one reason or another on the various blogs and forums I've found that discuss the issues of silent calls and cold sales calls. Can anyone refer me to any other websites that I should check out, to either get her phone numbers removed from databases, or file complaints?
4 - can anyone suggest a sure-fire way to find the opt-out check box on every web page, so I don't accidentally wind up getting the numbers onto MORE databases while I'm trying to remove them from Capital One's database?
Thanks in advance for any help!

I am so glad that I found this thread, as I was beginning to think that I was going mad. The number, 01111 is seriously harassing me today.
It all started about 10 this morning. Phone rings, answers, silence. I hang up. 1471 gave me the strange number. 20 minutes later, phone rings again. I was asked for in my married name, wearily said could be, as I don't really use this name.
Person asks if I received some info a few days ago, I said I doubt it no mail as its bank holiday.
Turns out its a finance company called Pro finance.
Said i am not interested and even if I was, no way would I do this over the phone via an unsolicited call. I then asked how they had my details as I am registered with TPS. The person hung up.
All day this has been going on now. The phone rings first time, from the 01111 number. A few minutes later, someone from PRO FINANCE is ringing me.
I have been polite, I have been nasty. I am now resorting to screen my calls, which is something that I really do not think I should have to do.
There I was planning on enjoying a relaxing, quiet day with my lo's and instead I am now being harassed by these nutters.
Any suggestions to get them to stop is greatly appreciated.0 -
