Get these all the time. Anyone with a CLI of 01111 gets to talk to the answering machine.
  • I just had the same number on a call. 2 minutes later they called back. The number in this case belongs to Capital Finance. As I have TPS I'm not a happy bunny and have now spoken to head office to find out how my name and number came to be available on their database. When I find out who owns the database I will send a detailed complaint to TPS and hope that they get a fine or something. Raaaaaaaaaar at sales calls!!!!!!
  • Just had three of these calls within the last three minutes, all silent calls. Wait till they call again and someone is actually there, they'll get an earful. I won't be as bad as this man though hehe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vng3HwVzuJ0

I'm on TPS too and I never normally get marketing calls, this is the first time it's happened.

Can i just say thank god for this forum :) After doing a google search on 01111 im back here !

Right I too am registered with TPs and havent appriciated there 3 calls in the last 24hrs, so I pressed the person ringing for some details.

The details he gave was 209 Melton Road, Leicester and didnt know the postcode.

I not so politely informed him I wasnt happy and without prompting asked if I was registered with the TPS service which I had great pleasure informing him I was, he quickly ended the call with a flood of apologies and hung up.

However I asked for a telephone number from him at the start of the conversation so i could verify this was a con type phone call, and he gave me the number 08702 024000, which is a valid number and low and behold was answered "Capital Finance" playing it dumb I then managed to assitain that the company have moved and the address given out by the foreign call centre staff (!!!!!) would be incorrect. So I was given the postcode LE4 5PJ, and was told it was The Old School Room at that postcode which on Royal Mail comes up as the following

    Capital Finance
    Old School Room
    Loughborough Road
    LEICESTER
    LE4 5PJ

So if anyone else gets a call from 011111 then these are the people responsible. I was called late last nite, VERY early this morning and again this afternoon. Ive a 4 month old whos not happy when awoken by the phone so ill be making sure that anger is put too good use in making sure these people are held accountable for there dubious actions.

This part is only a guess, im recently married and when they rang they asked for my wifes maiden name but Mr "My Wife's maiden name" if that makes sense. The latest phone book has our number listed but still in her maiden name, so when I answered knew striaght away to be on the defensive :p

So my guess is there going through the phone book and working through, im in Lincolnshire so guess it maybe regional or if alphabetical then there up to P

Id stress anyone else who gets the same call from 011111 to answer it as they will keep ringing if you dont answer and when you have sent them away with a flea in there ear to complain too so we can make these companies accountable for there nusiense phone calls.

Right rant over, sorry for the spelling and hope this helps others who arrive through google or elsewhere :money:
  • yep, I also had a good rant at the person calling me and asked how they got my number. He couldn't give me an answer except that it is on a commercially available database. This !!!!es me off as someone is making money out of selling my number illegally on this database. i took the number for headoffice and called them, insisting that they give me details of who owns the database. They said they'd call me back. I'm still waiting. If necessary, I will take out a freedom of information request on this company to find out who is responsible and also how someone is able to sell my number without my consent when i have TPS registration. It may seem a bit extreme, but these people still harass me on a daily basis even though they are not legally permitted to do so. I think I'm quite justified in my rage!

    S xx

Nice idea but the FOI Act doesn't apply to private companies.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I had a call from 02022222222 the other day which is a bit bizarre!
  • I had another call off 011111 today but again it was silent. I think complaints should be made to the Information Commissioner's Office??

Strange, the only thing Google comes up with at that address is:

British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association
    The Old School Room
    Loughborough Road
    Leicester
    LE4 5PJ
