We have been getting these calls for around 3 weeks now at all times of the night and day. all have been silent and hang up after a few minutes. Today my wife got a call at just after 8am and this time they introduced themselves as capital finance. She gave them an earful then hung up, Done 1471 and of course number was 011111.
She called to let me know and i called the 08702 number who denied they had called as they dont start until 0900 hrs. before hanging up they said they would remove me from tjier lists. This is depite them not asking my name or taking my home number !!
I am also registered with TPS but what can you do to really stop these calls?0 -
Thing to do in all cases is complain complain and complain again. Due to the number of views and replys on this thread, its not isolated cases that there ringing and too many people are posting that there registered with the TPS so something needs to be done. Ive recieved a letter from the TPS about my complaint and they said they will raise it with the relavent body upon there next update. If you visit this link http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/cgi-bin/tps_complaints.pl
it will take you through the complaints procedure, id have thought the more people that do this the more chance there is of something being done and the people held too account !!0 -
I've been plagued by calls from 011111 for the last two days, most of them just hung up. Tonight I actually got to talk to somebody (asian accent), who told me they were from "Capital Finance". I strung him along a bit in order to get some information out of him, and got an address of Unit 209, LE5 6QT (leicester). They were trying to sell me a remortgage.
After telling him that the call was being recorded and that I was registered with TPS, he put me through to his 'supervisor' who also had an asian accent. I again made a point of saying the call was being recorded, and he promised he would take my number off his list. I asked if he was aware of the TPS, and that he had a duty to check numbers before he cold called, and he claimed that there was a problem with his 'IT systems'.....I replied rather curtly that I would be reporting his company to the relevant authorities (which I shall be).
Hopefully I won't get called by them again, but if anybody else does, please report them.0 -

I wonder whether the Company Secretary could say why that is?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Surely, if they're phoning you, calling the company secretary and asking him to explain why is not unreasonable?
Searching for just the surname and postcode on 192.com usually works! 0116 271 3772
Im sure Directory Enquiries could help also. https://www.bt.com0 -
thank goodness for MSE, you can find out just about anything on here can't you?
Im also with TPS and up to a week ago had very few sales calls, but since the start of May I have had loads, firstly from the 0202222222 number claiming to be doing a 'survey', however he already new a great deal about me, my address etc, the others have all been 011111 numbers, from.....capital finance.
It does no good saying 'take me off your data base' they will not bother, what concerns me is where did they get all my details from, not the phone book, its my husbands inital in there and they did not ask for him. Both callers also knew we had a mortgage.
On friday I had a call in the middle of my toddlers tantrum, asked the woman to hold on while I delt with my little darling, then had a devilish idea......i'd just leave the phone off the hook for a few minutes and waste her time, was not costing me anything.....felt a bit sorry for the caller, after all we all have to earn a living, but got a lot of satisfaction out of it!
I continued to potter in my kitchen (post tantrum) and occasionally heard a little 'hello, are you there?' until she gave up, well at least it gave other call recievers a bit of respite!!!!
However all through that day I recieved calls from the same number, they would just not give up, even more anoying was a call this morning 9am again from 011111, one of those silent calls, but it did not cut off after a few seconds, it remained connected and we were therefore unable to make or recieve any calls for over half an hour, has anyone else had this experience with the silent calls not cutting off?
As this is obviously not an isolated incident, judging by all your experiences, I think I will take the time to contact TPS, hopefully if enough of us do this TPS will help perhaps?0 -
they called me one last time, about a week ago.
I asked the caller if he was from capital finance, which surprised him, then he admitted he was. I politely told him I was fed up with their calls and to stop calling me, and so far I have not had another call.Karma is a wonderful thing.0 -
capital fiance will not take no for an answer, im getting more calls now, each time I state TPS which cuts no ice, they just say they 'aquired their data base from a legal source' today when they called I denied having a mortgage, he lost interest and hung up, will that be the last we hear?
Any one got any help from TPS on this?0 -
I sleep badly and am up at all times of the night.
I do hope I don't get any calls from Capital Finance. If I do, the number in white text in post #24 will be receiving my thoughts on the subject of mortgages at all hours!Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
