I am not into online anything other than this forum and facebook to keep up with friends and family. I don't like online games or anything like that. My concentration span is pretty short so its got to be really good to keep me entertained.... if a film doesn't excite me in the first 10 mins I switch off...

I just don't like being on my own I guess. I feel envious of those that have partners in their lives to share everyday stuff with.

Saying that though, I am only just out of a relationship and have been warned not to get into another one so soon, I have been advised to spend time by myself for a few months..... but it's BORING! :(

Have you factored 'fun stuff' into your plan? If you get bored easily and want a life other than debt management, it's probably better to account for it now rather than think 'eff it' a month down the line when you can't take another saturday night in and end up back where you started!!

There must be some relatively cheap entertainment/social activities out there to stop you going insane!

    I'm single, male.......lol

It can be really hard living alone and being single. Having not drank at all this weekend and having no one to chat to really gets me down. I can't really go out with friends as I know I would go over budget so its all very boring.

I find being alone so empty, so much time of doing nothing and noone to chat to about my days and how they went.

I really don't want to be single much longer as wonder how this will impact me in the long term.

Alas! Someone who knows how I feel!!!! Your post makes me feel better, I know it doesn't make you feel good but I don't feel so alone now if you know what I mean!

Glad it makes you feel better. Normally I am fine but was ill Thurs, Friday and today which means I have not seen anyone since Wednesday which is really hard.

I will need to treat myself next weekend though so I font go insane with boredom.

I would seriously advise not getting into another relationship for a while. Make sure to live on your own for at least a year, if not two. It gives you a whole new sense of independence that you never realised existed.

As for boring, it's only boring if you let it be... find something that you can get lost in. It doesn't matter if it's "sad" or "geeky". It might be knitting, cross-stitch, online gaming, reading, (to name a few of my interests :p) whatever... as long as you enjoy it and means you aren't bored. Don't give up something just because your friends think it isn't "cool". Who are they to say what you enjoy doing?

This is one of the things I learned while being single, in debt and crawling out of it, one inch at a time :)

I don't want to get involved in social events just to be doing something... I just want some nice company, someone to talk to and be close to... but that doesn't happen overnight and I am just feeling rather sorry for myself... sorry guys, I just keep thinking if I had more money I wouldn't be sat here right now, I would be doing something nice this weekend, like relaxing after having an indulgent pamper day.... etc etc

    Lucy,

    Have Pm'ed you.

I have been single for over a year. I would say only get in a relationship after you had a period of enjoying being single.

Don't worry about it! Sure it would be nice to have the money to do whatever takes your fancy, but sadly not all of us have that luxury. I have more money available now than I used to, but I'm still the skinflint that I learned to be back then :D

I go out with friends maybe once every three months, sometimes longer between than that. Hopefully I can change that once I've got everything paid down, but I still won't be going out every weekend like I used to in college, or like some friends still do. It seems like too much of a waste of money to me now. I've got a better attitude to money, and drinking it away in a night seems like the wrong thing to be doing now.

There's always going to be things you could be doing if you had more money! Unfortunately most of us MSE folk can't indulge in idle fantasy about all the things we could be doing if we didn't need to sort out our debt, it'd get too depressing.

There's nothing wrong with looking for someone to share your life with necessarily, although you've already said that jumping into a new relationship probably isn't the best way forward. And it can be expensive!! Having to explain to a new date about budgets could be tricky.... Unfortunately it's one of those 'if it happens it happens' situations, so you might have to learn to keep yourself occupied and feeling positive without an OH.

The reason I suggested 'social events' are because not only do they keep you from boredom, but having a good afternoon/night/evening with some excellent company even if its just friends can be SUCH a boost.
