MyUserNamesTaken how come your cease date is showing so soon? Mine isn't showing yet.
I've read a lot of good things about Zen but they are quite a bit more expensive than v21 and a little more than Prodigy Network.
Prodigy Network also do an ADSL line check which comes with a heap of other information too here: http://www.prodigynet.co.uk/menu.php?page=support/adsllinecheck
It does appear when you start to go through the sign up/migration process with Prodigy that your MAC isn't needed as long as :
"If your adsl line has already been cancelled, or is just about to be, then follow this link to go to the activation page
We will manage the process of you migrating, so it is very important that you haven't cancelled the line with your old supplier. If you have or your line has already been disconnected then you will need to go back to the full activation here . . ."
When I've followed it through almost to the point of setting up an account it does seem as though you don't have to wait to try and get hold of your MAC. Does anyone know if this is so?
It would be nice to know where we stand in our contract with v21. Can we really take it that one doesn't exist between us anymore?0 -

MyUserNamesTaken wrote:I'm a Fast24 customer, not V21. Our cease date was originally set for the 17th. It was then cancelled on the 17th (day it was supposed to cease) and put back to the 24th. Now it's been put through for the 27th. I can actually see it showing using the zenbroadband.com phoneline checker. It says the cease is on the 27th and I can move after that date. V21 customers ceases should show, as you're now due for a bulk cease 3 days before us Fast24 customers (even though Netservices stopped our service on the 8th November, before it stopped V21 customers).
Thanks for this, I checked with Zen last night and again this morning and they say that "Broadband is already connected to this line" and "you will need to cancel the existing ADSL service prior to ordering . . .". No mention of a cease order at all. Looks as though the v21 customers may well be messed about with as much as the unfortunate Fast24 customers.0 -
My concern was that v21 would take payment for internet services automatically, then I'd have the stress of having to recover the money from......v21 ? biscuit ?
I cant even speak to anyone at v21 or biscuit, so recovering any money would be an impossible task. They have this stupid answerphone in place that sends you round in circles.

Hi everyone, just wanted to say thanks for championing the cause of V21 Fast 4 Customers. Much appreciated :-)
My latest is that I have written to my MP, lodged an official complaint with Ofcom - they were very shady about what they were going to do. They basically said that they would see if it warranted an investigation. Nice of them huh?
Meanwhile I'm sitting in a very cold room at work emailing and paying bills etc instead of in my nice wee Home Office with a mug of strong hot tea!
I've also been doing some research on ISP's and am sorely tempted to go with BT. Has anyone got any ideas about the best ISP which doesn't charge extra for excessive downloading?? (I've got to make up for lost time!!)
Oops gotta go b4 I get locked in building!!0 -

Ofcom dont take cases on at face value, they wait for a set amount of complaints to be made before taking them to the ISP in question. So my advice to everyone out there would be to lodge a complaint with them asap0 -

Have you seen this notice that v21 put on the Customer Portal last week?
http://www.biscit.net/biscit_mediacentre/v21_customers_affected_netservices.php
As you will see near the bottom it states "V21 customers affected by this dispute will no longer be billed." Also when I log into my account it does state the account is "On Hold". If you pay by direct debit TornadoTom maybe you could cancel it with your bank? I've given up trying to phone them and all the 0870 numbers and am waiting to see developments just now as there seems to be very little else that can be done.
PLEASE NOTE though that the 0845 number which is mentioned in the above statement is NOT FREE normal 0845 charges are being applied by my phone provider. The 08089933025 number mentioned previously in this thread is free - for the moment at least.0 -
Had my ASDL line checked & what does the following mean?:-
Line status
This line has ADSL fully installed on it. There are no open orders currently on this line.0 -
Means the existing ADSL hasn't ceased yet - I get the same. But the V21 service is back through Netservices for a couple of days:)0
