V21/Biscit Customers Locked out of Internet!!

Following my letter of cancellation to V21 I received a written letter of apology advising that my payment for November would be refunded.
As I had cancelled my debit card in the meantime I did not expect this to happend but to my surprise on checking my bank statement I have found that the refund has been paid!
I am now with another ISP; it is however a pity for Biscit that they did not sort out their service / contact issues earlier as they may not have lost so many customers!0 -

Crap slow connections on dial-up for the last two days.
Are they doing this deliberately to get us onto BB?0 -
I'll second what alared has just said!!
The dial up service over the past two days has been terrible!0 -
Yep the quality stinks thought it might be due to increased seasonal volume until I tried it via pay per minute dial up and what do you know, good as ever! Customer service seems to match the quality of service.0

There was some info on how to rectify problems with the v21 email a while back but I cant seem to find it
I can receive v21 email on a couple of accounts but cant send anything, I get this protocal error message from macafee.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please
basically, My v21 account is still on hold and I want to get all my email addresses working to collect any mail before ditching v21 for good.

You can connect OK but after that it`s agony waiting for a site to load.
Don`t even try to open a second window or you`ll get nowhere.
If this Biscit gang are trying to drive everyone away from dial-up (which I suspect) then they`re doing a great job.
The only thing is
who in their right mind would stay with this bunch of cowboys for BB.
Customer service--non existent.
A right bunch of chancers who never reply to email, secure message or answer the phone.
Beats me why Ofcom don`t take their license off them and fine them a million quid.0 -
Firstly I'd like to agree & confirm the issues with Fast4/V21/Biscit dial-up over the last few days. However I've found that whilst some sites take an age to load others are really quick, and sometimes dropping the connection and re-dialling can sort out some sites loading speeds.
As an example I use AVG and needed to update the virus database. The AVG window that does this displays the download speed and time taken/expected accordingly. I tried 3 or 4 times and the speed never exeeded 200 BITS per second - often less than 100 - so I abandoned it each time since it was going to take HOURS.
It took 3 or 4 attempts of redialling (always connecting at 49k-52k on the dial-up) but suddenly AVG was working at 5 KILOBYTES and the download took about ONE MINUTE !
As soon as this finished I tried another site I been stuggling with and this was STILL THE SAME - took 20 minutes to load the home page.
So performance seems to be SITE dependant - I've had the same with MSE - at this minute my connection is "almost normal" but for most of the morning it has been diabolical and I've had to redial 20 times to get a "working link" to MSE.
HOWEVER, and why I've popped into this thread today ....
SECONDLY (and I've put a seperate request in the TECHIE forum)
Hi.
I'm having an intermittant problem with performance with Fast4 (now V21 or Biscit since mergers/takeovers) dial-up.
Looking on their website it suggests that enabling the PROXY SERVER will help.
QUOTE:
V21 recommends that if you are connecting through your V21 connection you always turn your proxy settings on. Using our webcache will give you both faster and more reliable web browsing.
However it does not tell you what to set it to.
Does anyone here have this enabled themselves or the information to try it ?
Any help regards this gratefully accepted.
TIA.
Who knows this might help everyone if we can find out ?

Thanks for that but the people who should be telling us what the issue is and how to solve it are the *ankers at Biscit/V21 who have a website with a members area and a status page but they seem incapable to communicate with anyone whatsoever.0 -

I agree totally but the last status page I saw today said that there was not a problem with dial-up, and the members area is unavailable (at least to me) because it won't let me log in.
For anyone who hasn't looked or can't access the " SYSTEM STATUS PAGE " and would like to see what I can ... here is the last 2 weeks
