Well i spoke to the police, i should have taken your advice Infiltrator, they were very sympathetic as to the problem, but said its not something they would deal with as it not a crime but most likely a system glitch, the best they could offer was to tell me to visit my bank and speak to trading standards.
Oh well i did try.0 -
Thanks for doing this IanE. I was contemplating doing the same once my BB was back up. But it obviously is futile. However I told my CC provider that I'd lost my card down the back of the sofa and they have cancelled it, so that should at least stop Nickit taking my hard earned sponds.0

What does this mean exactly? Is my line clear??
Yup you've been dealt the 'get out of Biscit/V21 card' - head off to pastures new quickly and cancel any V21 DD's or card payment links. I'm over at Newnet now, up and running a day after the cease and now @ 5.2 mbps during the max streaming testing phase. All that for only £11.95:T I should be on commission:rolleyes:0 -
I'm a little surprised. Several posts over the last week have almost implied that before Biscit, V21 was wonderful etc. Some people are even considering staying with the new Biscit/V21 operation.
Apart from the recent catastrophe, although V21 may have been pretty cheap please don't forget that they used to have an extraordinary 30 day charging system (not monthly) which sometimes did very strange things to people's payment dates, and they also did some fairly underhand things from time to time.
For example, months after many of us had signed up for their FreeTalk service to obtain a £2 per month discount, without any warning or information to customers, they suddenly changed the rules to have a £2 pm minimum charge for the service!
Oh, and I nearly forgot about the weeks earlier in the year when our emails went into a big black hole...
So please don't anyone remember them through rose tinted spectacles!

PS These are criticisms of the company - its policies and management - not the people who used to work for it who, in my experience, often tried to help customers despite some of the official policies etc.0 -
Well, the 11th is here.
Is everyone's line clear for a new BB supplier today?
If anyone is waiting to be re-connected to V21/Biscit servers - any word?0 -
people have been joining new isp's since the 2nd successfully (and i mean actually using the new broadband service), and didn't have to wait until today to start the process off0

I haven't been in here for a while, due to surprise surprise!! no broadband!!
However, have done my usual ring round of Ofcom - logged complaints - again!!(useless beggars), BT Wholesale (nice and understanding but useless), Biscit/v21 ("your call is important to us, please continue to hold and get absolutely NO RESPONSE, we look forward to seeing you slit your wrists whilst listening to our reassuring machine voices!")
Soooo, to cut a very long story short, I have found out that I have not had a cease applied to my line, but instead, have now got an order awaiting on my line from Biscit who according to Ofcom, have bought V21's customer base, (like that gives the Bs the right to sign me up to a service I want nothing to do with!!!)
Ofcom also informed me without so much as a hiccup of embarrassment ( i think they are enjoying the havoc that has been wreaked) that it will take 10 working days for the contract with Biscit to be cancelled and for me to get the tag from Biscit removed..you shoulda been in earshot whenever I heard that!! It was not pretty!!
So, can any wee lovely person tell me if they are in the same boat and what I can do ...please!!!!!!!
I'm now ready to slit my wrists or someone elses if they come too close.0 -
Schmooz
Sounds like you've been unlucky. I did think that there was a chance that Biscit would try and do this on lines not already signed up to a new alternative ISP. Can you cancel the line tag without having to contact Biscit?
I note V21 have taken down my own website today, so I guess my letter of cancellation must have had some affect even though I have had no reply from them (unless of course their server is just down)?0 -

Big thanks to you and all others who recommended Newnet. I'm now up and running with BB from them, after only one week on dial-up. There was a slight glich (down to BT not Newnet) which their CS dealt with fast and effectively. "I will ring you back within half-an-hour as BT will probably keep me hanging on before they answer." This actually meant exactly that. Also their phone was answered quickly even though it was late Monday morning.M.E..... MORE than you know0
