Thanks nickmack.
I've been reading a lot of things tonight about reclaiming our money, but a question about Nationwide's policy. Do Nationwide still close all accounts, after claims?
I ask, because we also have Child Fund accounts for our two children, plus all our income/bills are automatically paid to and from our other accounts. I'm not very well, I suffer from deep bouts of depression, and I'm not sure if I could cope with a major change in our banking.0 -

It's impossible to say on an individual basis.
I suggest you have a look through the thread below and see how many Nationwide customers have had their accounts closed.
You do need to make contingency plans by opening a parachute account in case, hopefully you won't need to use it.
Also, if they do decide to close your account, it shouldn't affect any other banking facilities you hold with that institution such as loans, mortgages or childrens accounts as these are seperate agreements.

Hi all,'I'm going through the process with Nationwide too.I've got a query though,I got back my statements and claimed back charges which they refused with the bank but i'm only at the second letter of requesting default charges with Nationwide credit card due to them not responding quickly enough.Should i wait for a response from the CC side before taking the whole lot to court. Also in scotland can I do this online or has it to be through my sherrif court.Hope this isn't confusing everyone. Appreciate the help!"Sometimes life sucks....but the alternative is unacceptable."0

Not your problem they failed to reply. Unless they've offered a full refund, then progress with the court claim after 14 days.0 -

All you need to claim online is an address in England, and to be honest, other than to enter on the form and receive confirmation from the court, it was never used. The bank still used my home address. the English address is only for moneyclaim and I also entered my home address in Scotland - so it's not even a case of pretending to live in England, purely for mail purposes.0 -

It seems that Nationwide close all accounts. (from what I've read on this and the CAG website). It seems that two weeks after the payout, they give 30 days notice of account closure. They do close any accounts linked to the account in question eg E-savings account linked to a flex account.
sorry to hear you're not well (depression is terrible to cope with). I suppose it depends on how much you have to gain from it. Certainly worth it for me, as the process was straightforward and I got 100% of my claim plus interest and legal charges refunded a week after filing MCOL
good luck with whatever you decide to do

well i started this thread/post a few weeks back and just to update you all , nationwide didnt bother to respond so i filed my court claim yesterday which cost me £120 which has only left me £20 in my account until friday but hope its all worth it in the end , barclays who i am also going for have another 4 days to respond and then i will file the court claim to them as well , in for a penny in for a pound , i have promised myself one thing , if this proves successful i am going to dedicate alot of time to helping other people who are in the same boat and help them out as much as i can because to say i need this money having just gone thru a divorce where i wrote over my whole house to my ex and kids which has left me practically skint is an understatement , it was worth $400.000 without a mortgage but wanted to have my head held high when we split and make sure they stay in the home they are used to without any upheaval , at 40 years of age i am back in a rented one bed flat with a new partner .......... AM I MAD !!!!!!0
