Right, I have just written another letter..... What do you think?

Further to your recent reply to my letter dated 04 March, 2007. I would like to clarify that you are dealing with my request of a fully comprehensive list of all the default charges for direct debit, unauthorized overdrafts and standing orders I have paid over the last six years.

As stated in the orginal letter If you are unable to provide this data, I will accept a copy of my statements going back six years; I understand that statements on their own are not covered by the Data Protection Act 1998, yet I’m not requesting the statements per se, but the charges, which I’m entitled to by law

I am writing this to you on day 19 of the required 40 days you as Nationwide is obliged to reply under the Data Protection Act. If not I shall seek remedy from the Information Commissioner.

    any opinions gratefully recieved.

    Thanks

  • Hello everyone. First posting, so please be gentle with me.

I'm pursuing Nationwide for £1550 at the moment. What really sticks in my craw is the fact that I've been made redundant three times in the last six years. On each occasion, I've asked the Nationwide to increase my overdraft on a temporary basis. They refused on every occasion, which is more than partly responsible for most of the charges.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I've had my statements and written to ask for my money back. I've had the usual snotty letter back refusing. The letter was written by a guy called Richard Huntley. Further to this, I wrote to demand my money threatening court action and asking for a response within seven days.

Seven days was up today, so I phoned the above-mentioned Mr Huntley.

What can I say? What an arrogant ****. They seem to be trying to play hardball, but I think I detected more than a hint of doubt (or was it fear?) in his voice. :D If I'd been in the same room, I'd have cheerfully throttled him. As expected, he trotted out the "party line" from the company, so they're going to court. I'll keep you posted as to how I get on.

As a little PS to this, if anyone claiming from the Nationwide fancies a bit of fun and games, I think it would be nice if as many of you claimants could waste as much of Richard Huntley's time as possible by ringing him up at every opportunity to check on the progress of your claim. maybe if he's fielding these calls for six or seven hours a day, he might start to change his repulsive attitude. His number is 01793-712478.:D :D:D:D

In contrast, I spoke to another bank that owe me £330 today. The delightful young lady that I spoke to can't find my claim, but has asked that I fax through the letter again "so that she can fast-track it" (!!!!!). I'm not really going to mention the name on here just yet until I've got my money, but I feel fairly optimistic that I'll get this one settled this week. (And to be honest, I was absolutely flabbergasted by her response).

And before I forget my manners - a million thanks to all the people who have contributed information that's been very helpful to me, in particular the administrators of the site.:T

Mr Huntley's number is disconenected! I tried to ask for an update on my claim today and got the discontinued tone!
  • ...it's been disconnected for ages.

I just added 1 on to his number (all the direct lines must be on the same block of phone numbers), and got through to one of his colleagues.
  • Sorry if I seem a little confused but I have now reached the stage where I have received my statements from Nationwide, I have worked out my charges and interest and am ready to send the second letter to them. Who do I send it to? Does it go to head office or to my local branch?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you

  • Hi, this is my first post. Could anyone help re Nationwide and my attempt to try reclaim charges to my Flexaccount. I owe just under £300 in bank charges (yet to pay) going back some time. The Nationwide kept writing to demand the money and I told them I was unhappy with the amount. They then sent me a Default Notice demanding return of cheque book and card (which I did) but I reminded them I had sent a £10 p.o and a request for a breakdown of charges. Since then I've had two letters saying they will let me have their decision in due course and in the meantime to look on their web site for help if I cannot pay. I have paid much more over 6 years as they charge £25-35 for each returned d/d but at present the without cheques and card, the account is as good as closed. I am using my Cashbuilder savings a/c at the moment but only minimum amount in there. This started about 6 weeks ago and I feel I 'm getting nowhere fast.
  • can i reclaim more than 6 years charges,
i have had 2 replys from the nationwide and they do not want to refund any charges
