Hi I am not totally sure whether I can actually reclaim for any charges from Nationwide, but I will give you my circumstances.
Whilst at uni I had two different accounts Bank of Scot for my Student Loan and Nationwide for my wages at summer and some DDs. When I finished uni I changed the address back to my home address as the statements were sent to my term address. However, their incompetence led to the address not been changed and I didn't find out that they had canclled my ovedraft on the account. They subsequently charged me for being over my limit and returned DDs which I did not find out about until a couple of months later when I received a call from them. I agreed to pay them a reducing overdraft of £100 a month towards the debt, however I was late one month and again incurred charges which I didn't know about and got charged again and again as I was not reducing my overdraft. In the end it was put to a 3rd party debt agency which I agreed payment with that ending with my account being closed. Still during this time my address was not changed. Can I claim back charges for this.
Also I was charged on my credit card with egg for the DDs with them not coming off, can I claim these too?0 -

Claimed £4700 recieved a payment of £3450 with a letter stating this was for past charges, interest and £94 in charges dropped. I replied in a letter yesterday stating that I would accept that as part of my claim but would procced with the claim for the rest. I have just logged on to Moneyclaim and they are going to defend the case stating that they disagree with the amount claimed.

I've sent first letter to Nationwide claiming refund of £1,250 charges in last 6 years. A/c is still open but I don't use it (bank elsewhere now). Nationwide have replied to my first letter stating the charges were as their terms and conditions when I opened the account (15 years ago, at least). I'm therefore preparing second letter, informing them I'll take Court action if no offer of payment within 14 days.
Has anyone had any success with Nationwide? Lots of other banks/building societies mentioned on the Forum, but not Nationwide.
Also, would I have a case to claim against a mortgage company for mortgage arrears charges they applied to my account over a five year period? Or is it just bank/credit card charges? I have since remortgaged with another mortgage provider? Before I remortgaged I had incurred over £1,000 worth of charges. Their terms and conditions look to be no different to those of banks/building societies.

I've recieved a letter from nationwide today, saying they're in the process of arranging a refund. I filed MCOL they were served with papers 05/03/07 and acknowleged on 07/03/07 stating they would defend. So hopefully i'll have an offer in the post tomorrow.

I have just spoken to NW, who informed me that the dates I was claiming charges from was wrong, They sent me the last six years statements from March 2000 to Dec 2006, which I thought was six years, I calculated my charges from them dates, they calculated from the date of the summons issued, back, So they only refunded me charges from 2001 to the date of the summons which was 22/02/2007. Which means, I think they got away with a whole years charges, Its all abit confusing!!! if was not allowed to claim 2000 then why did they send me the statemenst ???0

anyone know,Thanks for saying thanks :beer:0 -
I THOUGHT I WOULD LET YOU KNOW THAT AFTER RE-CLAIMING £800 FROM NATIONWIDE THEY DECIDED TO CLOSE MY ACCOUNT. AFTER READING ABOUNT THE ABBEY HAVING TO PAY COMPENSATION FOR DOING THIS I DECIDED TO CHALLENGE THE DECISION. I SENT A LETTER ALONG THE LINES OF
You say I am unwilling to conduct my account in accordance with your terms and conditions. Would your decision be based on the fact that I have just recovered unfair bank charges from yourselves or based on the whole history of the account?
I feel to that your decision to close my account in retaliation to reclaiming unfair bank fees would be unfair and retaliatory.
ETC ETC WITH A FEW FACTS ABOUT OVERDRAFT REVIEWS, BALANCE OF MY ACCOUNT NOW ETC
HOPE THIS HELPS ANYBODY THAT WOULD LIKE TO KEET THEIR ACCOUNT OPEN BUT STILL RE-CLAIM CHARGES:rotfl:0
