  • I sent my claim letter to Nationwide and received the standard letter. I wrote to them on 8th June advising that I would be proceeding with further action if they didn't respond. I received nothing back from them, so sent another letter on 5th July.

I called them today to see what was happening after the announcement of the test case and the answer I got from them astounded me.

The lost the initial recorded delivery letter, it was signed for but not passed onto the department that deals with the claims, the fantastically names Customer Experience Team. The also haven't received the 2nd letter sent on 5th July.

All they did was apologise for losing the letters and that the would add me to the list of people receiving the letter about the OFT case.

I am resending the letters again today directly to the Customer Experience Team, but don't really hold out much hope of anything from them. Feel totally sickened with it now.

It will be interesting to see if Nationwide continue with the policy of paying up before the end of the 28 days or if they will go to court and hope that the cases are postponed until after the OFT test case.

Hopefully those that are in the court process now will keep us all informed of how they go on.

What? 'paying up before the end of the 28 days????
my 28 days was up two months ago - I'm still waiting for a court date.. doubt I'll get one now!
I've tried ringing Nationwide.. no answer - given two different numbers but spent 10 minutes listening to music. I rang the court at the beginning of last week and they said I would get a letter by the end of that week but I still not heard anything... I have no idea what's happening with my Monument one - court date 9th Sept.
I started both those claims in Feburary!

Hi all. I'm part way through my court process, Nationwide had up until tomorrow to defend. As mentioned previously I phoned the Customer Experience team last thursday on 01793 712537 and was told nationwide would be paying up, and the money would start to be paid back from last friday (I did not take the ladies name, but did log the date and time of the call). I phoned back on Monday and was accused of being a liar, and conveniently any calls made direct to this dept are not recorded, and worryingly nationwide do not keep track of who accesses information on their customer accounts (or so I was told by the team manager!), the person I spoke to did not even attempt to help me find out who I spoke to. I have today written a letter to nationwide demanding copies of all information held on my account and this claim held electronically and on paper file, as under the data protection act and freedom of information act. I intend to enter judgement tomorrow as planned, even though I have received the snooty letter regarding their intention to defend in the court case. I will keep you all posted.
    Amount being claimed from Nationwide - £2794.50 + £524.09 in interest = £3318.59 + court fees = £3438.59
    lodged with Moneyclaim online 29/06/2007

Amount to be claimed from HSBC - £730.00 (charges only). Email sent to customer relations 01/07/2007 & letter sent by recorded delivery 02/07/2007 (to be on the safe side!!!!!!)

The letter has been sent off by recorded delivery to my branch, so we'll see how long it takes.
Just logged into maneyclaim and they defended my claim on 29/07/07!! So I guess I'm awaiting my court date, and collating the papers for my bundle!!!!!!

Technically every time someone logs into your account they are suppose to leave a note of what they were doing or just enter 'admin' etc... I know that's what I did when I worked as a customer service agent & complaints dept.
But this can be bypassed... not suppose to though.

Finacial companies are suppose to record all calls too! hmmm... I would recommend recording all your own calls from now on - ie from your mobile. If any company try that again then you can offer to email them the recording!
You might have just got someone who doesn't want to play ball - you could call them again and try to get someone else?

I have tried calling, but they always pass me back to the same person, who is the one that called me a liar. Have written in my letter how concerned I am of Nationwides complete lack of security, emphasised on fraud and identity theft and how they have left their customers wide open for this. I intend to obtain from Nationwide details of staff who have accessed my account information.

I am concerned though as I intend to defend and 2 weeks ago noticed a typo on my court documents (which somehow my boyfriend and myself missed completely!). In the section requesting interest I have typed in 1894, and not 1984. The rest of the document is fine. Worried that this will affect my claim. Any advice anyone?

Last week , Nationwide agreed not to pursue me for £259 o/d pending the outcome of my case( alredy at MCOL stage ) last night the automated calls demanding money started again. This morning I received another letter chasing the amount ,in the same post there was a letter explaining that they were applying for a stay in the proceeedings. In my view the proper and fair way to deal with this is, for them to make a counterclaim for this amount which woud also be stayed by the court pending the outcome of the test case.

Nationwide however are threatening to register defauts with credit agencies , this deal the OFT have done with the banks is just a reinstatement of the BANKING BULLYING CHARTER.

I am not giving in to them and will be waiting outside my branch at opening time
  • hi all i sent a letter to nationwide asking for just over a grand back got a letter saying they paying nothing at all back to me my account apparently is in collections as i refuse to pay the £250 charges they have put on , this morning got a phone call of n/ wide to say i must start paying sum thing of it and i said i had done mcol last night , he said charges will still be added on, he said i should pay sum thing cos it will be on hold cos of the test case so now i filed mcol, im still going to get charged till it gets sorted is this right , not sure how it works cheers jill
  • Nationwide wrote to me last week to say they agreed to refund me. They said "I'm now able to confirm that we've refunded £140.00 in charges and cancelled £1.75 in pending charges to your account". This was on the 19th of July, it's now the 1st of August.

Any ideas why I haven't got it yet?
