  • Hi All,

I am about to apply for credit card charges from my Barclays Visa & Maastercard. Are there any templates that I can use? The ones here seem to be for bank charges.

Sorry if this question has been asked a million times!! If you could point me in the right direction that would be a great help!!

    Many thanks in advance!

Use the same templates and amend them to say 'Late payment fees, etc' instead of 'going into unauthorised overdraft'.a1540.gif

Thanks to the couple of people that encouraged me to be patient with the courts - I've finally got a date in June - it's an age away!!

Had a little nigglng concern after Martin's prog last Friday that Barclays are hoping the report due out from the FOS in the next couple of weeks may recommend banks refund the difference between the charge and £12 (the sum they are expected to recommend per charge) for all pending claims. That would make me very unhappy!! :(

Its a real possibility. June is a long time away I agree. Still, stick to your guns and shoot for the whole amount. Take it to court, they won't like it one bit and in all honesty they still shouldn't defend in court because they are still in the wrong with the amounts charged; even if the OFT rule that 12 squid is fair.

  • 19 March seems to crop up an awful lot in the reply letters sent out by Barclays. Any significance to this date?

    Hi,

I hope I'm getting close to a refund from our friends at Barclays! I just wondered whether others had been to the same point?

I have followed all of the procedures on the site and registered a claim with HMCS Money Claim Online. This was served on 5/2/07, they acknowledged receipt on 9/2/07. I have not received any correspondence from Barclays. So as I understand it, I will be able to request a judgment tomorrow (5/3/07) but - then what?

I must confess, I did rather hope that they would take it to the wire and then cough up! Reading the thread it looks as though 17 March is a significant date and that they may be playing for time with the expected '£12.00' ruling looming...

    Any thoughts?

The clock is ticking with my Barclays claim right now. I used HMCS online and Barclays acknowleged thereby increasing their time to 28 days. They wrote and offered be £1000 roughly one third of my claim which I declined. They gave every impression of making the offer in response to my letters (which they ignored) rather than my HMCS claim. Their time runs out on next Sat 10th and it looks to me like I click the link online to ask for jusdgement to be entered. I assume the "issue warrent" link will then become active in case they don't cough up. This is of course assuming they don't enter a defence and they only have Monday to Friday to do that. Everything points to them not doing so but my wife and I have nervously considered the paranoid possibility that may be we'll be the first one to get contested to set an example :-)
  • I think somewhere deep down Steve we all worry that we are the one who will be made an example of. But, just think of the media coverage it would attract with this story being so much in the public interest? Would the banks really want that? My guess is no so try and relax a little :)

Cruxi, yeah I think the 17th or 19th March must be about the time the FOS expect to make their £12 ruling. I seriously expect Barclays will make us all offers that amount to the difference between what we were charged and £12.
Board Guides: In advance of this happening have you/Martin got any guidance on whether our cases would still stand up in court? Or is best to wait and see what the ruling says and then what Barclays do?
