Hi
You only pay a £100 fee if your claim is over £1500.
Good luck with your claim, hold out until you get the full amount back.

Right.... I'm at the very start of this process and am trying to claim for my other half.
This year I have calculated Referral Fees to the total of £355.00.
I've written the letter, but do I need to include copies of the statement or just dates that the charges were made.
Also ~ we have bank statements for this year. Is it really worth getting them for the past six years? This year has been bad, but prior to that, I'm sure things weren't that bad....
Finally ~ what is the liklihood of Barclays closing the account? We've not opened a new account. Is this really necessary?
TIA0 -
I'd say its worth the £10 cheque to find out if there are previous charges that you can't remember.
Just the dates will be okay for your initial claim.
Should they close your account you will be given time, I believe 28 days, so maybe not necessary when you are making quite a low claim.0 -
Barclays charged me over £300 in Oct and over £300 this month (Nov) for unpaids and unauth ODs, kinda cascading off one another causing other payments to bounce & in turn causing yet more £35 fees, I always thought charges were capped at 3x £30 a month, but the unpaids seem to be limitless at £35 a pop. I've cancelled all DDs etc and paid them manually this month and re-arranged all payments for 1st of each month. Prior to these last couple of months I've had a fairly 'charged' existence this year due to unforeseen expenses, they usually get at least 1 or 2 £30s a month from me by going a little overdrawn, last year I was a "preferred customer", they turn on you pretty quickly if given the chance!
Now the question...
I've set up a basic account with Natwest* ready, I sent off my letter & cheque to Sharklays asking for 6 years worth of charges (as per template), although I sent it off 'Special Delivery' to my local (account holding) branch, thinking about it I guess it should've gone to London/HQ ? Is it likely to be returned to me or will they process it?
*Mini sub-story about Natwest, I originally started to setup this account a few months ago but didn't go through with it in the end (didn't return forms with 3 months worth of barclays statements), then I moved house-thought nothing more of it until I had some post forwarded to me, seems they went ahead and created the account for me anyway! Was a premium £10 a month account too, because of this it made itself overdrawn and then started charging itself, when I saw the first statement it was approaching £300 OD without any involvement from me at all!! I went straight down to the branch and said to the cashier I was being charged on an account I didn't know I had, she scurried away and the branch manager appeared and took me into a side room, quickly took my details and also disappeared for a bit, returned and told me the person who did it had left the company a short while ago, admitted it was a mistake and reimbursed the full amount. So, whilst annoyed, I can't deny they sorted it there and then. Still shouldn't have happened though. Ah well, at least I've now got a (monthly charge-free) parachute account ready.0 -
I have just received and offer from Barclays for 360 as partial settlement for the 950 they have charged me- i really want all the money back and I am confused as to what to do next. Do i need to start court action and then send the letter saying i will take them to court or what
I am really confused0 -
Send them the thanks but no thanks letter, or the - "I accept as a partial settlement but will continue my claim to get the rest back" letter
Theyll just reply saying this is their final offer but youve got to do it... how far into the LBA are you? dont forget to keep up to YOUR schedule not THEIRS
I think at this stage i when i recieved a 50% offer i was just sending the LBA to them, so i continued and now im on Day 30 of my claim!
3 more days and if they dont file a defence they gotta pay up without going to court!0 -
I am just about to send my first letter to Barclays requesting the charges back and have a couple of questions...
1) Does anyone have any experience or feedback from claiming the interest at the very start of the process, i.e. do the banks tend to offer a higher initial settlement figure or does the added interest act detrimentally etc.
2) If it gets to the court stage and the bank settles in full at the very last minute, does that settlement fgure include the 8% interest and your costs of taking action against them up to that point.
Have had a look around to seek answers for the above and not seen anything, but apologies if the information is posted somewhere.
I just want to be as prepared as possible and am concerned that adding interest may effect my claim in some unforseen way.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks.0 -
