You will only be able to claim back a couple of years though as it is maximum six years going back from when you start your claim.0 -

You can claim from any accounts you've held within the last six years, whether the account is closed or still active. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Don't want to give up but think I may need to prepare myself for a fight. They helped get me into to the mess I'm in, they can help me out of it.
well.. sorry to say but yes you are right, they are a bit harder than some banks to get your money back, but the way that i have seen things lately is, it seems to be the more money you are trying to claim back the tougher they are being and trying to scare people into backing off. but if you are only claiming a small amount e.g. maybe under £500 they seem to settle a lot sooner with no problems. just stick to your deadlines with your letters and dont let them get control...the money is YOURS.
so good luck to you and i hope i have been able to help. Not just a white vanman:cool:
I'm no expert in things really but i do have 36 years of experience in life, and some of those years fighting off bailiffs.

hi, i'm claiming bank charges of £4,800 (ish), i'v got as far as taking barclays bank to the small claims court. they have acknowledged the claim saying that they'll defend the claim. after the 1st letter they offered me a 'good will gesture' of £1000. i then wrote back asking for a settlement figure of £4,500 to which i received no response so continued to the next stage to take them to court. the 28 days is up next friday (12th). i would be grateful if anyone could share their claim results with me and how their claims went. thanks
Barclays are defending the whole claim and I have now received the questionairre to fill in and send to the local Court with another £100.00!! Can I reclaim the £100.00? Can anyone advise of the next procedure. Am I fighting a loosing battle here because I feel like it's a never ending up hill struggle. Will I fall at the last hurdle?0 -

Eyes have one funny from looking at hundreds of pages of small print on my statements. I requested my statements in Novemeber - they didnt charge me for them. Now I have finally got round to totalling up the charges - £1300. Mainly paid referral fees and some unauthorised overdraft fees. I have an envelope here with the schedule of charges and letter from consumer action group site, will post it tomorrow and see what they come up with.
I requested same from Barclays, the said they could only send me 2 years worth of statements - how do I get hold of the rest?
Thanks.0 -

I got a letter from the court, but it just says "In accordance with your request, judgement was entered against the defendant on the 2nd January 2007"
that's all it says.. so now not sure what I do next

Stephen_ie wrote:OK, So i sent my second letter asking for my 60 quid back (not much i know, but its an extra night in the pub  )!, but then after reading some of these threads, if they reject my letter and then it goes to court, I will have to pay £120? Is this correct? If so, it is hardly worth my while contesting if they reject my 2nd ltter as I will be £60 worse off.
Anyone else know of a claim which was under £100?
Cheers.
Any ideas about this anyone?
Thanks.0
