If you ask for statements then i believe Barclays is £5 per request, if you ask for all transactions under the DPA then its £10 for everything and this is what I would recommend doing (it also gives you fall back if they mis stuff out), if you ask them for a charges list, then I would assume this £20 is a new 'charge' invented to ''cover their costs'' lol of producing said list. And tbh i wouldnt hope for any more than 6 years of charges and would expect a few gaps.
Ummm i think theres a Barclays Manager in the bank accounts bit of tis site (username barclays manager) lol maybe pop on there and ask him about this charge? might help others too.LegalBeagles0 -
Barclays are doing our charges free of charge. It would have cost £10 for the statements aswell, but tbh as ours runs into the thousands, i'm not that bothered if they 'forget' to add a charge or two, if it saves us hours of trawling through page after page of statements.
This was only a few days ago we phoned and asked them, and they were very helpful over the phone too0 -

That's very kind of them. In a week or so they'll send you a note telling you how much they've taken off you together with a note saying you can't have it.0 -
I understood what you meant. Just not sure why you felt the need to point it out?!
Seems a bit like sour grapes to me.0 -

Accept my humble apology. Don't understand the sour grapes comment. I like many other people are totally pi55ed off with the affair. Just find it amusing that they are taking such good care of your fine self.
Original point stands by the way 'being nice' doesn't pay the bills. I won't bother you again as you seem unable to understand a light hearted comment.0 -
I'm reading through related posts and Martin's pages to try to understand the reclaiming process at the moment but had a few questions. I'm with Barclays and I'm about £1500 overdrawn. I was reluctant to try and reclaim the charges, as I was worried that they could ask me to pay the overdraft back at once. Reading through the site though, I get the impression that it is better to start the process sooner rather than letter. I've banked with them for about 8 years, and I think I've been fined on a fairly regular basis, so I was going to opt for them to add up the charges. So should I wait or try now? And do I risk my overdraft?Impending doom! :eek:0

I'm in the same boat with Barclays and have a good chunky overdraft, but I still sent the first letter with cheque to them anyway and that's nothing really, its a legitimate request anyone can make after all, and it took them a month to reply anyway! I've not sent the actual charges letter to them mainly as i've not got round to it yet, but seeing as the test case is still a while to ending i'm not sure there's such a massive rush unless your in hardship??
JemDebt which IS NOW GONE before 31.12.2011: CC - GONE!!! :j Loan: GONE!! :j

No, I'm not in particular hardship. I think I'll send off the letter and cheque to find out how much money it is, and if it takes a month as you mentioned, I'll have paid off some of the overdraft by that stage anyway! I guess then I'll join the list of people waiting for the test case result. If the test case goes in the bank's favour, then no one would be able to claim, right?Impending doom! :eek:0
