I've just started the reclaiming process from barclays. Rather than sending a letter and £10, I phoned up on the usual telephone banking number - 08457 345345, spent a couple of minutes chatting to the advisor, and I've been promised that a list of the charges will be sent to me within 6 working days.
I'll post back and let you know whether or not they come up with the goods, but if they do, it's a damn sight quicker than the 40 days mentioned on the main site, and 10 quid saved!0 -

I've asked for the details from July 2001 until the end of 2008 when the accounts were closed.
The chap I spoke to was careful to clarify exactly what I wanted, and then asked me for the dates, so it's looking promising.0 -

Well, the list of charges arrived yesterday, dated 13th August. Not quite the six working days they promised, but much less than the 40 days they're allowed.
So anyone thinking of claiming from Barclays, it's definitely worth a phone call rather than a letter.0 -

I am asking because if you say 6 years then that phone calls needs to be made AGAIN since the 6 year clock stopped on 27th July 2007 so the statements should be from July 2001 to present.0 -
Just called Barclays to get my charges sent out by post (without fee). They tried to convince me it was only for the past 6 years but I made them send out since 2001 after mentioning the Data protection act and all other info.
They have faxed my info over with my request to the Claims team so that I get them sent out within the next 6 working days (I'll give them 2 weeks though). I'm quite alot in debt at the moment and really struggling to even afford to get to work and back and relationship stress and breakups etc have just added to it, so to know that people are still getting their claims paid out if such a godsend!
They've been charging me without fail almost every month for the past 7 years (I'm only in my early 20's aswell, have a mortgage, car, family etc so super stressful!!!) as I can't get out of the hole and they keep putting me back in it.
Nearly fainted today when i saw that my charges for July were for £150 odd... Straw that broke the camels back and I realised I've got to get my finger out and actually do this to get stuff paid off!!
I just hope they pay out! :T
Good Luck everyone else!0 -
I initially emailed Barclays to ask whether the £10.00 fee was applicable with them.
They responded that a fee was not necessary and that they were forwarding my email to their Customer Service or whatever department to sort out my request and send along a list of bank charges, which is due by Thursday of this week, so we'll see what I actually receive.
On another point, if I do need to change bank account because Barclays gets grumpy with me. How likely is it that anyone else will take me on? I haven't tried getting another account with anybody else because I didn't think they would want me as a customer with my financial history!
I'd be very grateful for some advice on this point.
Many thanks.0 -

Yes... The details for one of the accounts go back to 2002, the other for 2004.
Just phoned up again, and the advisor said he's not able to help me over the phone because the accounts are closed, and I need to go to my local branch. I'll try to pop down tomorrow if I get up in time. If this is going to take much longer though, I'll probably just put in a claim for the total amount (plus interest) they've shown me on the statement. £3000 would come in quite handy right now...0
