I am wondering if the reserve fee is one of those unfair charges?

I got this reserve amount for my current account with Barclays, basically how it works that i pay £22 per day for using this reserve which is on top of my overdraft limit. Barclays will charge me for £66 (three continiuous days) for using this reserve.

IS this charge fair to me? Am I entitled to reclaim this charge?

    Thanks a lot in advance.

The reserve useage fees are £22.00 every five working days(or 1 week) that you use the reserve. I would get rid of it and reclaim the fees. The additional thing is that they are outside the FSA Waiver yet inside the OFT test case issues so it's kinda complicated. YES reclaim them btw.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

Thanks for your advice, i will try and reclaim them back/at least get into the queue since bank charges cases are on hold at the mo from what i have read so far, is that right?

im also having another question about Nawest card protection in another thread, think you would be the best person to ask for. Do you mind taking a look? :j

  • I phoned Barclays last year to lodge my claim and they said that everything was on hold because of the test case. But gave me a claim number so when the test case is over it can be dealt with. Is this normal or do I need to claim by letter?

I personally think that you should have a paper trail to bank charges reclaiming.

  • ADVICE needed - - - - My husband has had a bank account with Barclays for 15 years and has bank charges every month on his statement for going over his overdraft. Can he claim bank charges for this or not?? What charges can you claim from the bank??
  • Hi
We are just starting a claim against barclays, I have requested details of all charges since 2001

can we claim for charges made since 2006? If not why not?

Does anyone know how long and how likely it will be for payment to be made?

    Thanks

Hi, can anyone who has requested a list of charges from Barclays before tell me what kind of statement did Barclay send to you?

Just got a letter from them today, they didnt send me any statement, but just a piece of paper with some entries on it, they used the jargon of Guaranteed fee, paid referral and return tran fee etc etc

I am really confused what they mean... :(

Can anyone help me with this? I am constantly in reserve useage so get charged £22 every 5 days so my charges per month are between £88 - £110 per month. I am on incapacity with 3 children, 2 of which are under 3. I know its my own stoopid fault going into the reserve but we're in a recession and it took me a while to adjust e.g I shop at Lidls instead of Tesco, I never buy new clothes, havent had a haircut in a year etc etc so I'm making a huge effort but as prices keep going up my benefits have to stretch even further so being charged this every month is crippling me.

Are these unlawful charges? I just cant seem to ever get out of it.
