  • What happens if the bailiff has given letters to the Manager of Branch and was told letters would be sent to head office for processing and the bailiff can't enforce warrant. Is there a furthe step if the bank is refusing to pay
after warrant issue and letters from bailiffs.Has anyone had similar situation.
    Thankyou for advice.

HI, I am currently £1600 overdrawn in my Barclays bank account,I really am interested in reclaiming my charges as Im sure I have Quite A bit,I just wandered if anyone else with Barclays could tell me if thay have had to open a new bank account because Barclays closed theirs? because obviously if they close my bank account im then going to owe them the above amount, which could see me worse off? All help would be great.

I went ahead with reclaiming from Barclays and I'm more overdrawn than you are. If...I mean, when they pay up it will be enough to pay it off.

There's a few posts on here about Barclays holding onto cards, requesting Cheque book, etc but this hasn't happened to me (yet). I have an umbrella account just in case things go tits up but for now all has been fine.
  • well so far i have followed all the guides and used the relevant letters from this site, barclays has replied recently and stated it would "investigate" which would take up to 8 weeks! ok so we all know this is one of the many delaying tactics used by banks.

as they have not replied to my last letter i sent them on 23.5.2007 i sent them another letter stating they had 2 options which are;-
    1. pay me £3000 which is 95% of my claim
    2. face me in court!!
i wonder if they will reply within 7 days? clocks ticking!

  • we sent in a claim too barclays on the 13 of april and subsequently received a letter from them saying they would investigate our claim and contact us by the 24 of may, this they did, but they just said they needed more time too investigate and would contact us by the 24 of june,we found this unacceptable and contacted them by phone, only to be told that because we still owe barclays money any charges we did get back would go towards paying off our debt with them. Can anybody tell us if this is fair and legal should we still carry on the fight and now threaten court action-as is suggested on this website.

I'm in pretty much the same situation and if they said this to me I think I'd go for it. Just tell them to pay off what you owe and send a cheque to you for the remainder. I reckon that would be a result.
What phone number did you ring them on?

Im in the process of sending my second letter. Barclays sent me there usual letter saying it will take 8 weeks to investigate. The 14 days are up from my first letter now.

DO I send the letter now or wait a while longer. First letter sent 17th May 07. Do I stick to my time frame or somewhere in the middle of mine and theirs?
