Finally received a copy of statements today and I'm trying to wade through them. I'm used to doing this now as its the fourth (and final) bank account I've claimed against. However being a business account they seem to lump all charges under one section per month and I pick out the relevent ones to claim back - fine up until 2 years ago when they have put one figure for commission and stopped showing a breakdown. It has taken me ages to get this far with Barclays and I really think I'll be hitting my head against a brick wall if I go back and ask for more details.
I'm tempted to include the whole commission figure for these months and let them sort it out - after all they obviously check their records before making an offer, don't they?
I'm probably answering my own question here but feedback would be appreciated.

  • Seems to be taking forever for Barclays to be sending us our statements, we sent the £10 cheque and letter off on 9th May, 40 days is up on 18th June, does anyone know of a number to ring or how to contact them to make sure they've recieved it ? I emailed customer services last wednesday and haven't had a reply to that,

Hi the 14 days after my second letter ,(threatening court action )was up on 29/5/07,gave them a couple of days, then phoned them on thurs 31/5/07, saying that i was dissappointed they had not responded to my letter, but if i dont receive my charges back, £2370 , within2days i would start court proceedings, i would then claim interest and court costs,,i would seek a wasted costs order from the judge, and i would make an official complaint of abuse of process to the judge ,for there failing to reply to my letters ,and unwillingness to resolve this matter. this morning had a letter offering £1770, will phone them on monday to refuse this amount .;)

The letters saying that they are investigating and have 40 days to respond are little more than acknowledgements of receipt and attempts to make you give up and go away. The 40 days timescale only applies if you are going to escalate the claim to the Financial Ombudsman.
