Woo hoo!!! he telephoned - quite put out about it but he rang!
Seems our letter of complaint that I handed in last week has hit his desk this morning. He has no other details of our requests but will set the wheels in motion. He also said they ar quite busy with people asking for rebates but he will 'pass it on' I pointed out that the original letter is now over 40 days old and they have broken rules - seems he is not to blame for the postal system - er, I handed in the letter - that flummoxed him. I've demanded that I be given priority and he sort of agreed although (to quote him) 'he doesn't get his hands dirty with this type of problem they have another department for that!'
I have his phone number, I know where he works so unless he vanished on a corporate golf day or the grand opening of a tin of beans I'll can reach him!
Diary note telephone him monday if there hasn't been any correspondence.

    I'm on a mission!!

Have just signed up to MoneyClaim today. Haven't heard from bank yet, but they have until Friday. This is because I forgot to sign my first LBA so sent another one last week giving them a further week to reply. Just to cover myself really. (Made sure that one was signed!)

    Hi
A few questions about claiming from Barclays. I am in the process of setting up a Debt Management plan.

I have an overdrawn current account with Barclays, and a loan (with arrears)

The first settlement agreement I had from Barclays had my current account number on it. I went back to Barclays with a full list of charges for the last 6 years.

The latest settlement agreement I had from Barclays had my loan account number on it. This is about £500 short of my full claimed amount.

    Questions..
As I have a Barclays loan with arears, will any money they pay me back have to go towards that?

I will be relying on Barclays accepting a reduced offer on my monthly loan payment when Debt Management Plan is in place. Would it be unwise to rock the boat and claim the full amount of charges?

Yes they are entitled to do so.

    It shouldn't make any difference.

I too am on a DMP, I had already been on it about a year when i claimed back my charges, money went straight off what i owed them and it didnt effect my DMP payments in anyway.
Only different it made was making me 2k less in debt:T

    Hello,
Having wrote off on behalf of my partner to claim back £2090 of charges, yesterday she received a letter offering a settlement of £1605. In the letter, however, it states that when she opened her account that she accepted the "charges" and as a goodwill gesture they would give her back some of her money back. I pointed out that as they reffered to them as being charges and not fees, as seems to be the case now by some banks to try to wriggle out of giving your hard earned cash back, that if she wanted to go all the way to get all of her money back she had a strong case. As she isn't up for the fight she has accepted their offer. I suppose 80% is better than nothing!!

Sent my charges to Barclays on the 17th May, got a reply 25th May with the usual rubbish.

They aim to find a solution within 4 weeks but if they cannot do so then a full update on their progress will be sent in 8 weeks.

Do I now have to wait for the 4 weeks, 8 weeks or anything at all before proceed with court action?

    Advice please? Cheers!

So I started a claim against Barclays last year for 25 quid. They ignored me so I started court proceedings. We got our court date and they have now offered to settle but expect to buy my silence for £25... It is reasonable of me to cross out the bit about confidentiality, right? They also want to pay the money into a Barclays account which I closed years ago... Smart, huh?

    Hi again evryone! Good news!

Received letter from Barclays today. Of course it is just a standard fob off letter but is offering us £430.00 to settle the complaint!

My original claim was for £660.00, including interest. So it is £230.00 less then what we asked for.

We are going to accept the offer. I know that there will be people on this site that will say to hold out for the full amount and under different circustances we would, but we are desperately in need of a cash injection at the moment. Just happy that we didn't have to go to court.

Will send reply off on Monday and see if the money gets paid in. It says the money should go into our account ten days after their receipt of reply.

Should I send reply in the freepost envelope provided or should I send it recorded mail again, just to be on the safe side??
  • hello everyone! i am at the stage where barclays have said they are defending my whole claim of £4192 with interest and they have 14 days to submit their defence to the court!
Now im starting to worry as i not likng this court stuff! thought barclays would of payed up by now from reading the success stories!
Can anyone advise me on what to do next? sit it out?
