It's up to you, but i sent all of my letters to my local branch and hand delivered them so that i know they have got them, they have an internal mail system and i dont see why we should pay the postage. It worked for me as i reclaimed nearly £4000 in April.

    Good luck

P.S. when you hand that letter in to your local branch you will walk out with the Biggest fattest grin on your face ever. Trust me.

I'm no expert in things really but i do have 36 years of experience in life, and some of those years fighting off bailiffs.

  • Sorry if this has been asked before, but there are a few too many pages to read through!
I sent letter 1 to Barclays over 40 days ago and no statements sent and no cheque cashed. I sent it to the Leicester address, was this the right one? Do I need to send another request to a local branch? If I phone what number do I use? As far as I am aware the only number I have will be a foreign call centre.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks Steve

...it would be a nice idea... but generally i don't finish work until after the branch closes. if i'm lucky, i can manage it on friday (i hopefully finish early), but it usually means me breaking a few speed limits!! maybe i could add that onto the claim...
the easiest option for me then, would be the post. i've looked through various barclays blurb, and if i remember rightly the business on the account (although my local branch wasn't actually in the town) was originally done in loughborough, but was then moved to leicester. indeed the only address for correspondence i can find is the leicester one...hmmm...would it actually be worth taking the day off work and actually finding their offices in leicester, and marching in there with my claim...?just for entertainment value....:p
  • The correct address to send your request for statements is:

    Barclays Data Protection
    Radbroke Hall
    Knutsford
    Cheshire
    WA16 9EU

I got a letter back the very next day confirming reciept of my request, and my original cheque as they advised they will provide the statements on a complimentary basis. The statements took the full 40 days to arrive.

I've been trying to claim money from Barclays, I submitted a claim for £2500 on the Money Claim Online court and on the 14th day they submitted an acknowledgement, just in time and buying them another 14 days. On the 28th day they have now submitted a defence, are they just trying to sweat me out? What would happen now?

    Thanks all.

    In short, yes.

Not sure what the extra 14 days are though. When I wrote to HSBC I said that I would start proceedings if they didn't respond and pay up within 14 days. They didn't, so I did.

HSBC are filing a defence against me, but from what I have read of the experiences of people in here, they'll pay up right at the last moment.

Have a read of the Barclays specific thread and see what other customers are doing. I am sure it will put your mind at rest.
We missed out on the reclaim of nearly £5000 bank charges from HSBC, but picked up over £10000 in PPI claims against them instead. I am now debt free and working to help my other half clear hers

yes ,seems as though they are going to the wire ,hoping you will cave in ,sit tight and go for it, they will probably pay up at the last minute ,as they will not go to court. i am going to start proceedings against Barclays next week so i will be in the same boat as you , sit tight and good luck

You'll hear from the bank/solicitor and/or the court asking for further information or possible just a court date. Then come back and let us know which and you can get help to respond to the solicitor/bank or court.

Or you could even get an offer from the bank :)
