40 days to provide the info from when they take the payment. It doesn't mean they can sit on your cheque without cashing it for weeks though...
They returned the cheque but said that they'll provide copy statements "within the next few weeks without charge on this occasion"
I was just wondering if this is delaying tactics (I sent the original request on 22nd February, they replied on 7th March) and have they got to provide the actual information within 40 days of the receipt of the original request, or do they have a further 40 days now they've responded?:o
Do I just stick to the original schedule and write to the IC after 5th April (40 days will be up then) if they haven't sent the info?
Thanks again!0 -

I would like to know if barclays have recieved my request for statement of charges without having to send the 2nd letter. Anyone have a telephone number?
Never mind, i got it
Anyone else needs this it's 01565614000, or thats the number i used anyway. A rather bored sounding lady answered but i got my answer. They said it's taking about 3 weeks to process at the moment0 -
I have today recieved a letter from BARCLAYS stating that they disagree with my view re unlawful charges! Expected. However have offered me a partial goodwill gesture of £560. Amount Im claiming is or around £1350. I would obviously like my full amount back, however am scared incase I shoot myself in the foot and take this to court and end up with nothing!! I know we are all individuals with different circumstances, but any advice will be appreciated.0

If you want the full amount, go for it. It's very unlikely you will actually end up in court and even less likely you will lose.0 -
help after being an avid reader this is my first time of posting. I am claiming 2405,11p they sent me the usual as goodwill gesture we will offer you 880.00 i really need the money so was a very hard decision to turn it down, but i did. I have sent Barclays my LBA on Saturday giving them 7 days before court action, do i give them a call tomorrow (my day off ) to see how far they are and if they intend to make me another offer. I am getting really worried they will take it to court. Is anyone having any luck with Barclays at the moment0

It's generally recommended you stick to your timetable and only correspond by letter. However, if you're confident on the phone, you could see if they will make another offer, some people have had some success with this.
Mention that you are willing to settle out of court without admission of liability. This will save them solicitors time, the interest that would be added at 8% and court fees.
If they refuse to budge, you will need to file the claim. The chances of you actually ending up in court are very small. Plenty of others have got Barclays to pay up before the court date.0 -

They are definitely not a soft touch and have a huge team of people submitting acknowledgements and defences at the very last minute to deter you.
I really can't see how anyone can win their charges back from Barclays without going to court.. has anyone actually managed this....??
I've noticed that too m8...theres loads of HSBC, Natwest and halifax but a serious lack of Barclays success stories...not letting it put me off though...spoke to someone on the CAG chatroom the other day and they told me that they'd claimed £2000+ off them...Barclays took it right to the last moment before the court date...took her about 5 months in total...damn court dates can be months away
Anyway, hopefully us lot will soon be putting our stories on there......and we've got to remember is that its money we really were not expecting to get back, so it really shouldn't matter when we get it back...just that we do...preferably in full...with interest........

Also having problems with Barclays, As soon as this is over I will be moving banks.
Barclays are the most stubborn, awkward to deal with and also charge the most in fees.
Ive been sent all the delaying letters and even tried ringing them and told them id settle without interest, to be told they would need to look into my accounts and for me to send copies of the charges.
Thing is I had already sent everything, so it is just delaying tactics.
Now sent MCOL, 10 days left for them to reply, but im not expecting anything soon.
Barclays should be ashamed, RECORD PROFITS, but wont refund unlawfull charges, unlike the other banks.0 -
i have recieved my statements and being a student have realised that i have only been charged £10 for unauthorised overdraft with the occaisional £30 here and there. total charges rack up to nearly £300 (3 £10 charges in 4 days nearly everytime!) should i still be able to claim even though its only £10 a time? or does the fact they have charged me £30 a few times mean i will only get the £30 charges back?2007 Comping challenge -> £00.00 <-Typical luck!:mad:0
