IF i'm in a huge accident.

So far, I haven't cost you a penny.

So far. But the pool of people of which you are a member - i.e. those who are too bone idle or stupid to buckle up - do least to increased costs for all road users.

    Bone idle?

I'm choosing the times when I don't buckle up, nothing to do with idleness and doesn't cost you a single penny OR increase the road danger to you or anyone else other than myself.

The problem with risk-taking is that complacency can set in unawares.

If you don't care about the risk to yourself, that's fine. Once you become a back seat passenger and forget to put it on (because you're not in the clunk-click habit), then you endanger the other passengers by being a loose heavy object. Now if you buckled up every time, you'd never forget and your subconscious action would later save your friends and family.

That would depend on the person, no?

Rock/mountain climbers take considered risks.....do you think they are complacent?

Although he was also wearing a seat belt, the offside rear passenger killed him by smashing his skull when he flew into him.

DH hardly ever wears his, he had the warning bell turned off in his car:mad:

When I'm with him or he's in my car I make him, but if I'm not there he doesn't wear it & he's a cab driver:( He says his airbags are his seatbelt:(

Well, there's lots of ways we 'tempt fate'.........a bit of speeding? having a sandwich or drink of water? squeezing through the lights just as they change? etc, etc, etc.

    I don't feel it's any kind of a big deal and I don't think I'm tempting fate.
