Do you fasten your seatbelt for every journey?.....really?......I don't

It may have been mentioned already, but if not you should google 'contributory negligence' and the case of Froom v Butcher.
Yeah, no doubt I'm breaking umpteen laws and IF i'm in a big accident it could be mentioned.....not happened yet, though. It doesn't 'feel' negligent in the slightest to sometimes not wear it around some quiet side streets but doubtless legal eagles and bean-counters would prove otherwise.0 -
Amazing - the stat quoted above is that 1 in 5 don't wear it and personal experience would suggest this is about right and yet on here apart from the OP we only have the self-righteous...I think....0

How many do you think died before the mandatory wearing of seat belts was made law?The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Well, like I say, I doubt you would be quite so blase about this if you were left a quadriplegic because of an accident which was not your fault and couldn't afford to pay a nurse to wipe your backside for you.0 -
Only absolute idiots drive without belting up.
Like maybe your father....or your father's father?
If me choosing to sometimes not wear a belt in quiet side streets makes me an idiot....then, fine. But I doubt it effects you in any way or causes the slightest increased risk to anyone other than myself.0 -

Not wearing seatbelts affects everyone because it increases the risk of personal injury which in turn increases everyone's insurance premiums.0 -

So, I shouldn't ever omit to wear a belt (around quiet side streets) in case it leaves me out of pocket in a huge accident?
I'm unconvinced.0 -
