Have found the list of addresses for Banks - is there a similar one for credit cards?
Have them set up and ready to go but am scared to send them off until I see something on here to confirm the addresses I have!!
I am sending them off to More Th>n and Morgan Stanley.
Thanks in advance0 -
I have successfully claimed the full amount of £3000 from HALIFAX bank, :T and was hoping to hear if anyone has claimed back from a closed account, as i closed a NATWEST account in 2004 which had a similar amount on it in charges...any ideas on how to claim them back as well?:j0

My situation is a bit different in that I got into quite a bit of debt outside any agreed loan/overdraft with my bank and in the end my bank(HSBC closed my account and sent the debt to a collection agency).
I think in that 6yrs they probably added around 2500 in bank charges and I would hope I could maybe claim them back??
However I have sent that standard template letter with a cheque for £10 asking for statements and have got nothing back.
Is there a different template letter we could used for people wanting statements from accounts that are now closed?0 -
The standard template was the one i used and it was fine,
If you,re 40 days is up report them to the information commisioner. Not Buying it 2015!0 -
we want to reclaim our past bank charges but some accounts are now closed and we do not have the account numbers. is this a problem? if so does anyone know how we get hold of them.0

What you have to do is write to each bank concerned, requesting the information as defined by the data protection act, and give then I think, £10, for a list of all the charges on the account.
They can locate the accounts if you give them the address that you had when you held them, and your personal details. ie date of birth etc
They have 40 days to produce the information if its asked for under the data protection act.
Alternatively go into a branch and ask them to locate the account, but take sufficient ID in with you, I dont know if this will work or not, but it may be worth a try.
Hope this works, try the consumer action group for details of letters if there isnt a template on here.

Good luck, I managed to reclaim 850 quid last year, and it felt good to get it back off the banks after all the times their charges put me in the red.

can you reclaim charges from store cards?0

Hi all
Have had my lightbulb moment and joined DFW thread yesterday. Now surfing round the site to find ways to save or reclaim money.
I know from reading this thread that I can claim back charges on credit cards, but cannot seem to find out whether if I was to claim (six card accounts) whether the companies would demand full repayment of the outstanding debts. This would be totally beyond us at the moment and would put me off even attempting to reclaim the penalty charges.
If anyone can advise me if this is likely to the case or not I would be extremely grateful.0 -
