I just rang Barclays who told me it would cost £216 to get 6 years worth of statements!!!!!! Is that right? When I challenged him about this and mentioned the £10 fee he said 'that only applies to bank accounts.' Is that correct? Please help!!
THE LONG AND THE SLOW ROAD SEEM TO APPLY TO DEBTS AND DIETS... THE TWO THINGS I WANT TO SEE THE BACK OF...:D
  • Hi. can anyone tell me how long Banks hold information on us AFTER our account is closed? I would imagine the '6 year' date and laws on holding accounting information probably have some influence. I want to claim against the Halifax from Mar 2001 to Sep 2003 when I closed my account and I have statements missing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as they made my life hell for a while. Thanks

Send the bank/cc your name, any relevant addresses and your date of birth with the template letter asking for your information/statements and they should be able to trace your account.

I closed my account with Halifax 10 months ago because of the charges they put through my account. Can I still reclaim charges even though the account is closed.

    Yes, you can still claim.
  • Hi everyone, I paid off several CC and loan accounts back in 03 with short settlement payments after cashing in on my house and downgrading. Could I still claim for charges even though I settled by paying less than the true balance at the time.

I still have an interest free loan from HFC after they merged my two CC's and loan accounts, would this be in jeopardy of being cancelled if I start the claim process? I haven't missed a payment in 4 years or more.

Any replies would be appreciated :)

just wondered if there is a standard letter to send to recover money from CC companies or is it just best to slightly amend the normal bank charge letter. i have seen the letter on CAG but it seems a little on the strong side for an initial request for refund
    Me
    HSBC claimed £2996.50+interest accepted £2611

    Capital one cc requested charges
    Mables cc requested charges
    Mint cc requested charges
    MBNA cc's requested charges
    Sainsburys cc requested charges
    Sony cc requested charges

I am not paying the £10 each time on the basis that there maybe no charges. i will only pay if the request it.

    Girlfriend
    HSBC claimed £1295.23+interest still outstanding
    Capital one cc requested charges
    Alliance and Leicester requested charges

    Mate
Capital one claimed £440+interest he accepted £150 goodwill

can someone please state clearly that if you have a credit card up to its limit, will the bank close the account and demand the outstanding balance if you insist on repayment of 'fees'? many thanks...
