Yes, I used the templates downloaded from this site and used the interest calculator as well. Just don't know what to do next!0 -
hi,
sorry if this has been asked, but I wish to claim against two CC's that I had a couple of years ago but I consolidated and paid them off. When I did pay them off I cut up the cards and cancelled my accounts and threw out all the paperwork !
I do have one half of each of the cards - one has the card number and the other only half a number.
Can anyone advise me on how to go about claiming them if I dont have the account number?
Is it still possible? I so badly want to get one of them back for charging me 26.9% APR !! Barclays grrr.... but this isnt the one that has the card number.
thanks in advance

Hi, the best piece of advice is write to them and let them do the work, provide them with as many details as possible including full name, address and DOB etc and they can fill in the blanks.0

I have a similair problem regarding an old bank account dead for 4 years but still eligible for reclaiming charges. One thing I have done as well as including the information 160968Paul *tips hat* has suggested is that in providing information of a past change of address I have stated they must note that I continued to receive cheque books and statements etc at my new address after advising them of a change.
I've made sure to emphasise this point as I've read that some banks will claim not to have your address(es) on file
I married whilst holding this account and have advised of my full maiden name too (for the girls out there ).
Good luck0 -
Ok so I want to get the ball rolling on this but I am affraid to tell the truth. I am a student so lets get that out of the way.
1) I have a lloyds tsb account and I am sure they owe around 200-300 off "failed DD fees" which they charge 35 quid at a time!! Just last week I had a failed DD charge thrown at me for 35 quid. Sigh.
The thing that worries me is that I also have a OD with them for 1,100 which I have used and I am worried if I start a claim against them they will ask for my OD back and close my account.
2) My CC's, I have 8 of them including one from lloydstsb. What I am going to say here for the last 1 and a half years everytime I pay in late they whacked me with a 25 quid late fee and also a 25 quid "over the CC limit" fee. Can I reclaim these back?
If I can claim both back I reckon the following owe me:
Barclaycard - 100/200 quid
GM - 100/300 quid
Lloyds tsb - 200 quid
Goldfish - 500 quid
Morgan stanley - 80 quid
Capital One - 200 quid
Halifax - 50 quid
The above I am basing on 12 quid minus 25 quid which = 13 quid per 25 quid they charged me. It is the different you can claim right? because OFT said they can charge 12 quid when they used to charge 25, so you can claim back 13 quid from each 25 quid right?
I still need to contact all these cards and get my statement, does it cost 10 quid per years statements or 10 for the whole statement no matter how many years?
What I am concerned about is if I claim these and they say "well we want to close your account, pay us back the balance" which I will not be able to do to, I have pretty much not paid off any of my CC's in like 2 years and just go by minimum payment, yeah I know but I am in no rush.
Any opinions on what to do?0 -
You can claim the full amount, the OFT £12 is only a recommendation not in fact a ruling.
Your loan is a different agreement and provided payments are up to date shouldn't be affected.
Please read Martin's article and the Reclaim Help Thread, both linked in my signature.0 -

SNIP!

Its £10 per company for all the information they hold on you going back as far as you like. Bearing this in mind, as an example, when you send Lloyds TSB the request, ask for all charges on your bank account and credit card, this will still only cost £10. Find out who owns who with the other accounts.
You can claim back all of each charge, not just the difference.
They may well close your account, this is frowned upon by the regulators and A&L have just had a telling off for this so unlikely to happen on your first claim. And even if they did, they cannot ask you to pay back more than you can afford each month.
First step would be to open a parachute account at another bank in case this does happen. Then get all of your statements from each bank. Then follow the process detailed elsewhere on the site.
And its none of my business, but 8 credit cards as a student??!0 -

I cannot let them close my account, how do I be expected to pay what I owe? I have a natwest student account so that is cool but as I said I do not work because I am busy with university so it is no option.
Yeah I never took out a loan for university and put the last 3 years of university on my credit cards (9,000) and then I completed my computing degree and then started my law degree but I have taken out a student loan for that.
If it is the case they owe me every charge which is 25 quid per charge then that means goldfish would owe me around 1,000 quid and you really think they will pay that without asking me to return there 2,500? I don't.0 -

Unfortunately if a bank decide to close your account, at the present there seems to be no way to reverse that decision.
The Financial Ombudsman has stated recently in a case that banks should not do this as a retaliatory measure and awarded compensation to the customer though.0 -

What about CC companys, have they been known to close the account if they payout?0
