Moved away from Bank of Scotland about a year and a half ago due to outrageous charges just as I finished studying. I've been with A&L happily ever since. After reading up on this on the main site I am keen to have a pop at getting some of my cash back.
My questions are;
Can I still go about getting the money back from them even though the account was closed some time ago? (I don't know the account number or sort code any longer)
If so, how do I go about this? Can I just send in the standard Freedom of information request?
Any help would be appreciated as during my final year studying, they absolutely scalped me for cash:mad:
I would be keen to hear if anyone else has had any success in similar circumstances.0 -
Sorry folks didn't read the forum properly!
After some determined searching I found my old sort code and account no.
So I've already posted the first letter with the £10 FOI request cheque.
My girlfriend has also posted the same letter and cheque
Hopefully I'll be posting in the success stories next time!
Thanks for your advice

When I was a first year student I was very unorganised and didnt keep track of any account numbers addresses etc. I got into very bad debt in this first year somewhere in the region of 5k and havw finally finished paying it back. Noe I think is the time to start claiming my charges back. I was at uni between sept 2000 and dec 2001 so I need to act quick. My account was closed slightly after this time. I can remember my first year address but not my second which is what I feel will be recorded at the bank. I have tried streetmap but no luck. Without any of these details I feel I'll be wasting precious time in waiting for the bank to reply. Anyone any ideas on what I can do?Saving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*
£11,860.00 needed = £1,106 in savings

Send off to the bank any details you can remember along with your full name, current address and your date of birth and they should be able to trace your account from that.0

Yes, you can claim from closed accounts. Follow the instructions then come back with any questions.

WRT Credit Card Charges, does it apply to closed accounts that have been passed onto a DCA and settled?
