I've just sat and read through approx 4 years worth of bank statements and could only find £38 in charges that hadnt already been refunded :(

Does anyone think its worth requesting the full six years worth just in case there are a few more ?

  • I only had a single bank charge with Nat West but it was one that really riled me.
Following a stalling answer to my first letter, the second letter was an offer to refund the charge without admission of liability etc..
Now waiting for a cheque I presume (closed the account a while back.)
So a small victory, but well worth the minimal effort involved.

I've been reading the letter NatWest sent me, they state there that the charges I'm claiming back are 'for providing services and that they are not penalties or charges for default' Is this a legal trick they're trying to play there?

Also, I'm a bit confused about where exactly I have to send my final letter before action - in the letter they sent me there is a form where they ask me to accept the partial offer which is addressed to NatWest Custmoer Relations, National Westminster House, 225 Shenely Road, Borehamwood, Herts WD6 1BR. But on another thread the address I found was NatWest, 135 Bishopsgate, London EC2M 3UR. Or should I sent that letter to my branch?
  • Send the letter before action to the address they have replied to you from.

Send your final letter the iether the branch or Shenly Rd, and for good measure CC it to the other one. The Bishopsgate address is the one for serving the court papers to.

lol thanks guys, and what about that thing they claim in their letter that their charges are not for penalties but for services? Are they playing with legal terms, is there something I could write in my response against this claim?

I sent mine to my branches, Borehamwood and Bishopsgate. They where all CC'd and sent RD, that way at least one of them would have had it and could not claim that they didnt in a court room.

    Good luck

What did you put in your submission?
See initial threads here on what you can and can't claim for.
