I am so angry I sent my first letter to Natwest on 29th January asking for my bank charges back. I thought today id better check online that they have received it as ive not heard a peep out of them and I was ready for sending letter number 2 on monday, anyway nothing showed online, so I phoned the number on the receipt and have been told that its currently in a holding department and has not been delieverd, apparently I have to wait 15 days. I am so angry it probably means I will now have to re send letter no 1 and wait a further 14 days. I could have hand delivered this letter 10 times by now as I walk past my bank every day.
I just thought natwest wouldnt have refused to sign for it would they?0 -

Michelle,
My thoughts exactly. I am in the same situation with Halifax...letter sent 7 days ago....but not delivered. Maybe they are refusing mail that are addressed to the addresses on Moneysavingexpert forums????
I'm think I'm going to re-send by special delivery.0 -
Guys - the Royal Mail recorded service is notoriously unrelaible - I use it at work a lot and frequently find that there is no record of delivery. I think you can be satisfied that the letters were delivered and that RM have just screwed up the notification. If you have the receipt and a copy of the letter then I reckon that unless the item is returned to you undelivered you can work on the basis that the bank has it. If it comes to it, tell the bank you sent it by recorded and I doubt they will dispute that. (You could use special delivery but that costs a lot more)0

This is my experience of RM signed for as well. I use them quite a lot for other things, the letters get there but the Track and Trace system is dreadfull.Whoever said "it's only money" had too much of it!;)

Took a letter into my branch 3 weeks ago requesting statements etc and paid £5 for them AND got a reciept.
When i checked my online banking they had paid the £5 back into my accountso last friday i posted a letter to the Borehamwood address including a cheque for the £5,as i didnt want them stalling by saying i hadn't paid.
Sure enough on Saturday morning i recieved a letter saying yes we are willing to provide you with the info.....but you need to send £5 first!! (so glad i'd already done it!)..........not heard anything since so far, but they have plenty of time!
Anyway......And this is where i get even madder(!!). Natwest have for the last 3 months charged us referral fee's of £60 (had £50 refunded after a phone call ) BUT they have sent us no notification of the charges OR when they would leave the account, Not even on my statements. Have been checking back and noticed they had been taken out on the 10th of each month. So i rang them after the last one....and was told i had a £30 referral charge going out this month too. The only reason why i've been going over the o/d is because they take out these charges...and then charge £28 at the end of the month too for going over....which i've only done because of the charges!!! Checked bank yesterday at 4pm.....had £20 pound in(which i left). checked this morning as wages went in.......and lo and behold........referral charge showing as gone out yesterday £60 !!!!!!!!! Not the £30 they said.....OR on the same day as all the others were taken!! So they sent me overdrawn AGAIN for which they will charge me another £28 at the end of the month!!!
Cant wait to get started when those statements arrive!
Apologies for the long rant.......feel better now!
HSBC-Total reclaimed:£2088
I totally understand how you feel - they try and make you feel bad by saying you can't manage your account properly etc etc but it turns out its them putting charges on top of charges which makes the account a mess
Stick to your guns and get your money back - Good luck! :rolleyes:0 -
Hi I just thought i would let you all know how im getting on with my claim.
I have taken all the steps and today filed my claim in court for £7k + interest.
I was worried if anyone remembers that I wouldnt be able to afford to file my claim at a cost of £250 has we dont have a spare bean at the mo but I went to the courts and filled in the remission form and even though we dont get any benefits they gave us remission on grounds of hardship due to our overdraft situation so thats worth keeping in mind everyone! Its just a waiting game now. Does anyone know of anyone who hasnt won in the courts yet and how often do the banks go all the way by entering a defence and actually turning up? Well I'll keep you up to date with things Good Luck everyone. Can I say what a great guy Martin is, we'd all be much worse off without him, he derserves a medal! Thanks Martin:money:

Good luck Jilly Billy
I wish I had tried that with the court fee, I paid the £120 but was a real struggle.
Oh well when it all comes back, I will be much better off. Just checked on M.C.O.L and Nat West have acknowledged my claim:eek:
Feel a bit nervous, but in for a penny in for a pound eh!!

Hi all (particularly Rex_mundi),
I hope someone can help. I have today received an offer "gesture of goodwill and without admission of liability or error" of £2110.00. My claim is for £2800. plus the court fee and any interest acruing from the date of the claim made (last tuesday).
My questions are:
I have claimed on two accounts, each letter, court claim etc has been for both accounts combined. The letter received today only states one account number etc. One account is in my name only and the other is joint. However the account that this letter refers, the charges are only £400 (approx), the other joint account is the highest at over £2000 (approx). Do you think i should accept this and then go after them for the other account (or is that being cheeky), or should i accept this in partial settlement and not full and final settlement. I also dont want it paid into the account and would prefer a cheque, since i am closing this account, when all this is over.
Incidently, at the end of the letter, as a threat, it states that should i not accept this offer then they will have no alternative but to close my account. Scare tatics or what. B******S!!!!
Help please anyone.
