Hi all,
I have just had a interseting conversation with Natwest, They tell me they are currently looking at 14,000 claims and have 8 weeks in which to answer them but they are also waiting until OFT release their findings before deciding their course of action. Has anyone else heard this or is it just another ploy from them?0 -
Thats a new excuse from Nat West0

Don't do anything at this stage. Just sit and wait to see how the bank responds. If they enter a defence, the court will write to you.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

This is not 100% new. There have been a few cases of this on the boards here and at CAG. You ignore these attempts to delay your claim. On the front page of CAG, they address this subject...........
Quote.......................
Banks provide a very good example of this. They tell their customers that they are only required to deal with complaints within an eight week timescale. They tell their customers that this is a timescale which has been laid down by the FSA. The truth is that there is no reason why this eight week timescale should be binding upon consumers or even the banks. The eight week timescale is part of some agreed industry practice. However there is no evidence that consumers were ever consulted when this arrangement was put together. Unfortunately, time and time again banks publicise the eight week target in a way which is calculated to make their customers believe that there is no other choice and that the timescale is binding upon them. This is not true. There is no reason why simple complaints should take such a long time and we have found that bank charges complaints can be solved within a week or so where there is goodwill on the part of the bank. Extended timescales simply help banks to frsurate their customers' bank charges claims. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Natwest won just one case in court. This is against what now must be thousands they've paid out without a hearing.
Let's hope this catches on at more courts.
Does anyone know the circumstances of NatWests only win in court? I'd hate to become the second person to get beaten by them!
I've just sent off the letter which requests a response in the next 7 days.0 -

Please don't worry about this one case that happened many months ago last year. Natwest haven't repeated their success, or repeated the same defence.
If you follow all the steps carefully, you stand an excellent chance of success (around 99.9%).How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
