Morning all. I sent a letter to Natwest a couple of weeks ago asking for £2500 in charges to be paid back. I received a letter back from them today saying:
'Thank you for your recent letter regarding the fees applied to your account.
We are currently considering your claim. Given the work involved in assessing your claim we anticipate that we will be in a poition to respond within 6-7 weeks, but will endeavour to do so sooner if we are able to.'
Has anyone else received a letter like this? It sounds like they are just trying to delay things but I don't know whether to let them or write the next letter saying that I'm going to take them to court. Any ideas would be welcome!
Many thanks.0 -

Yes I had the same letter. I rang them thurday and they say it is now 8 weeks because of the backlog. I'm sure when I ring next week they will tell me its 9 or ten weeks!

Afternoon,
Like ashmartin 76 I received the following letter this morning (having sent the 2nd letter a week ago)
"Thank you for your recent letter regarding the fees applied to your account.
We are currently considering your claim. Given the work involved in assessing your claim we anticipate that we will be in a poition to respond within 6-7 weeks, but will endeavour to do so sooner if we are able to."
I'm really echoing his request for thoughts on the best way to proceed.
Cheers

THe letters received are mere acknowledgements that your letter has been received. You have to decide if you want to wait that long or sue the bank. How much do you really dislike natwest?
That is the question. You will get an offer charges no interest BUT do you want the bank to pay more or less. You can only decide not me.0 -

I rang Natwest last week and they said they had decided to pay my charges less the interest, but would take until 31st July to send the letter for me to accept.
Then 3 days after this call i recieved the letter you are talking about.
So basically they had already decided to pay me they are just stalling things
Might be worth ringing customer relations to see what they say.Started slimming world 4th November 2010

I'm claiming on behalf of my dad after successfully getting my girlfriend's and my own charges back. I sent the statement request letter and Natwest took the maximum 40 days to send the statements but after checking through them all they have only provided them from October 2002 - May 2007. So this is a potential 17 months of charges he's missing out on.
What should be my next course of action? I wasnt too keen on sending another request and Natwest taking another 40 days to respond.
Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks
Baby
Hello,
I had my statements in 2 batches, from 2002 to today was sent in 1 envelope and statements up to 2002 were sent seperately.
I think is due to the RBS takeover.
I would probably ring them if you haven't heard anything in a week or just send the letter with the charges you have and add on more when you get the other statements.Started slimming world 4th November 2010

Arrrrgh I can't find the address to send my 2nd letter off to. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Or do I just send it o my local branch??
Thanks. I should have posted this off 2 months ago!
Also, did you ALL send off a breakdown of the charges? I've got a list the length of London and it's gonna take me bloody ages!!
My friend didn't include his and got all his money back from Barclays , no problem.0 -

Hi Blushbaby
After a conversation with Natwest last week it emerged that if you send your letters to your local branch, unless they're addressed to someone specific then they all go to a central point in the country to be dealt with. Hope this helps.

Thanks Ashmartin, will just send it to my branch up the road then.0

Hi
After a long long wait, I finally received letters from Natwest offering me my money back - the only problem is I have now started Court proceedings and have to file my AQ at Court on the 26th (tomorrow) .
What should I do - of course I want the money and no more stress and want to accept it, but what are the chances of me getting my Court Fee and Interest? Can I accept their offer and still proceed with the Court claim?I was thinking about ringing Cobbetts and telling them that Natwest have offered to settle, would this change their stance on the case.............
Really don't know what to do......0
