  • I put in my claim to Natwest for £1500 early in March. I have just received a letter of them offering me £1140. I did not put any interest on my original claim as I though it would be pushing my luck. Can I reject this offer and add the interest or would I be better off just taking my money. Any advice would be grateful as I do not want to lose out on any money.

    Hi there

I don't think it would be a good idea to add the interest on at this stage, cos its just a bargaining process.

I claimed £1640 with first direct and got offered £1370 which I took because I didn't set up a parachute account and wanted to stay with them.

Its up to you if want to take the money and run or go thru the f.o.s or the court. I'm still claiming off the halifax and they are messing me about, If they offered me £360 short of my £1790 claim I'd take the offer cos I don't need the stress of claim forms off the f.o.s or the court.

Just think as Martin says its money you'd thought you'd never see again. Best of luck

I dont know if anyone can help but i am currently in the process of reclaiming £200 ish from natwest , My claim is now at the court stage they have just filed an acknowledgment of the claim throygh money claim online. The problem is that this month i went overdrawn again and recieved a letter from them to inform me they would be charging me a £28 penalty charge. Can anyone please tell me if they have had the same problem and how do i reclaim this extra £28.00
    Thank you
  • Hi everyone, i recently won my fight against Natwest and got £256 paid directly into my account on June 8th..Only problem is, as soon as it was put in ,Natwest took out £41.99. I was overdrawn by £13.99 on May 29th .A £28.00 charge showed up on my account on May 31st. They had charged me this even before i had got the cheque off them for £256. Surely they cant do this. Can i get this back as well?

    Thanks

Called them up this afternoon and was told that yes, they'd received my acceptance form and that it went "on the system" on the 12th. Still no money yet, though! The actual paying out part of the process seems a bit haphazard, some get their money quickly and others don't...

Its worth calling them to explain the situation, Natwest have been quite good at refunding these smaller amounts.

A friend of mine did this and they cancelled the charge there and then.

Bearing in mind you have just been given previous charges back they might not be so helpful but its worth a go.

Well done on successfuly reclaiming your bank charges however it might be worth giving them a quick ring just to confirm they've received your settlement paperwork.

I was told they had up to fourteen days to credit the account after acceptance.

If they haven't done this by now it might be worth checking up on.

I'm doing the exact same thing tomorrow.

A piece of mind goes a long way.

Well done! I really think I ought to chase my bank charges, but I doubt the bank would even entertain someone wanting to reclaim under £300

Well , result at last. Got home last night to find a letter from Natwest (full of leaflets on charges) and a nice letter saying we do not agree with your claim and then on page three please tick here and have all your money back !!!! woo hoo , nice little hoiliday for me. £1400 claimed £1400 offered.

I send my letters in the timeframes but didnt bother going to court, thought id just wait out the "80 days" for them to respond , few phone calls along the way. Thanks to everyone that helped and spurred me on and good luck to all those that are still battling , Have faith and keep going you WILL get there.

In my post yesterday I received an offer letter from Natwest together. In the same post I received a letter from their Solicitors enclosing a copy of their defence and confirmation the same has been filed with the Court.

I thought I would go all the way when I started my claim but I am now considering their offer. There is a difference of £867.81 between their offer and my claim (which mostly comprises of the interest and court fee).

Does anyone have any tips regarding negoiation of the offer? The letter does say I can 'call to disscuss further'

Has anyone been successfull in having their offer 'upped'?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
