Interesting. I had my offer letter on 6th June, sent the acceptance form back the same day. I'm still waiting for the money to appear! Maybe they just need a prod - Carol, what phone number did you use when you chased them up? There seem to be lots of numbers to choose from...
I have just spoken to the department dealing with this and the number is 08000154212 and choose option 10 -
Hi there
I'm new at all this but have been keeping an eye on the forum for a while now. I have just had success with Natwest. I wrote the standard two letters and was just about to make a claim but thought I'd wait for 8 weeks to run out since my original letter. Sure enough I got an offer - £1674 against the £2064 I asked for (which to be honest had everything thrown in). I'm going to take it but I wanted to check on something I read about having stuff left on your credit record. I think this what WYb is talking about below...
[QUOTE Can anyone tell me if they've successfully requested the removal of a default notice on their credit file? I have asked for it to be removed, as the accounts only ever went overdrawn and subsequently defaulted because of their charges. And I didn't realise it at the time, but I was on means tested benefits and their charges should never have been deducted from that money in the first place! Wyb[/QUOTE]
Have you had any response on this? Does anyone know the answer??? I don't think there is anything on my crediot record but can they put something on if you have claimed the charges back??? I'm just about to accept the offer but I don't want to without addressing this first.

Good Morning
I have recently sent letters to NatWest for my son requesting a claim of just over £1200 + interest making a total of around £1386. He has now received a letter from them offering £1104.00 as they say that some charges have already been repaid. They have ignored the request for interest and by the look of the letter they are saying the he must accept all charges levied to his account after settlement. Should he accept or not ? Any advice from anyone please ?
Thanks in advance

I had my offer letter on 7th June and returned it on 8th June, I phoned yesterday and today to find out when my money would appear in my account only to be told my letter wasn't logged on the system and from when it gets logged it could take up to 14 days. I asked the girl today for a fax number as i said i was worried it might have got lost in the post as foolishly i didn't send it registered. I faxed it to 0131 523 6933 at 13.45 today and the money has just appeared in my account. Amazing!!
I received the same response -that they had no record of my acceptance letter on the system-this was a week after I posted .itVery worried .I offerred to fax a copy
" No point" I was told
Money appeared in my account the day after
I am surprised that they make a profit It seems a very disorganised business0 -

You aren’t legally entitled to the 8% per year statutory interest on the charges unless it is awarded by a judge. However, it looks like it did its job as a bargaining chip. The bank can think that they got away with paying you less than you asked for, whilst you can take all the money you were entitled to and run.
However, I do have grave misgivings about these clauses, which are effectively making you sign away your legal rights in future. I'm not even sure if they are legal or enforcable.
Having said that, and whilst I appreciate that it can be difficult, if you are reclaiming charges you really should do everything possible to avoid being charged in future. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

NATWEST
I claimed for £5,000 in the last 6 years bank charges.
I have been fighting personally with Natwest, since before Christmas. I threatened to go to court but never actually done it.
I received a letter saying that they didnt agree with my letter and their charges were very clear from the start BUT as a 'good will gesture' they would be sending me £3985.00. This was over two weeks ago and I am STILL waiting for the cheque to arrive. ITS COMING!:o0
