Hiya - doesn't matter if its £3 or £30,000 - claim it back! Get writing your first letter to get your bank statements and start the ball rolling. Good luck!

Got an email saying that they had received my complaint and passed it to right department. Usual time etc.................
How long to get this on their system - they told me up to 2 weeks? How long generally to make an offer?0 -
I have recieved statements today for a natwest account and have added all the charges up.
I've read through the thread of where to send all the letters to and it says i can poast the first letter to my local branch.
My question is can i just go in and hand it to them (and request they sign something to acknowledge its received) or do i have to put in the post?
Your advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.0 -

If you trust them not to lose it between there and where you should have sent it, yes.

Frustratingly it is all in the lap of the gods, rather the laps of the obviuosly busy but shambolic staff .I posted my response and on telephoning they said they had no record of it on the system. Panicking that it was lost I offered to fax a copy " oh it 'll be around somehere " Money was paid in the following day from some magical place.0 -
going back to one things mentioned, sending letters to branch i will ask the question, why? We just send them on normal mail, ok it is a freepost address to customer relation Unit borehamwood. So again, why send them to the branch? Waste of time, letter is dealt with up to 3 days after received, so why waste the time of sending them to the branch?0

You're quite right - it all gets dealt with at Borehamwood. The letters I sent to my local branch (the advice I was given initially) were never acknowledged and mysteriously disappeared into a black hole - or the carrier pigeon dropped them en route to Customer Relations.
Natwest haven't got any better - now they've got their 'heavies' (Cobbetts) involved, hoping to scare me off and intimidate me. Thanks to this great site I've known exactly how to deal with them, including their defence. Just why are the banks putting in defences when they know for a fact that they cannot justify their charges, and are too scared to stand up in Court and give us a breakdown of the costs? I think the waste on peoples time and resources (we the customers, court staff, judges) is outrageous. The only other winners in this (apart from us finally getting our charges back) are the banks solicitors, who must be rubbing their hands in glee

PS Sorry for ranting0 -
Hi all, I got the expected defence from Cobbetts this morning requesting the following:-
a) Account name, number and sort code each charge relates to
b) In relation to each charge date, amount and description
c) In relation to each charge clarify, is it my case I should not have been charged, if yes why not, if no is the amount invalid, if yes explain why and say how much I should have been charged, if no please state my case
d) As I followed the instructions on this site I stated in my claim “an unfair penalty under the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999” I am being asked to specify all the facts relied on by me in support of this in particular to please identify the regulations of those terms etc.
Do I simply respond with:-
Dear Sir or Madam:
Claim No:
I Acknowledge the receipt of the defence posted on behalf of National Westminster Bank plc.
I am not prepared at this stage to answer the CPR Part 18 Request. I anticipate that the claim will be allocated to the small claims track and would not then expect to have to deal with a Part 18 request since these are specifically excluded under Part 27 unless the court specifically orders me to do so of its own initiative
Furthermore I consider that the CPR part 18 request is intimidatory and I intend to bring the intimidation to the notice of the court. However, for clarity, I confirm the charges I am claiming were applied to the following account:
Account Name:
Account number:
Sort Code:
As I have already detailed all the charges to my bank & I would expect you to have the information to hand, however please find enclosed a full breakdown to assist you.
Yours Faithfully
Does this need also need to be sent to the court or do I just send it to Cobblers (their new name)
Thanks guysOfficial DFW Member 587 :T0 -
