Please help me someone. I have sent two letters the same to Natwest asking for my money and they have replied to one stating they are dealing with my request so I sent another asking again for my money back and they are ignoring me. This was about 3 weeks ago. Please can you advise what I do next?! Thanks:mad:0

What are you saying in your letters? Are you following any step by step guides?Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0
-
Yes the guidelines on the website. I'm using the templates that are provided also. I have used the template that asks to reclaim interest also, do you think this could be the problem? Or maybe I should ask them to clear the debt and we'll call it a day?0

The letters saying that they are investigating and have 40 days to respond are little more than acknowledgements of receipt and attempts to make you give up and go away. The 40 days timescale only applies if you are going to escalate the claim to the Financial Ombudsman.
If you have not received a full reply by 14 days from the date of your first letter, send them the second “Letter Before Action” letter, giving them another 14 days to respond or else you will start court proceedings. If you have not received a full reply by 14 days from the date of your second letter, start court proceedings on the MCOL website.
You aren’t legally entitled to the 8% “statutory” interest on the charges, unless it is awarded by the judge. However, it can be a useful bargaining tool. By claiming it now, you are saying to the bank, “If you make me take you to court, it will cost you my court fees and this much interest. So save yourself time and money and pay me my charges now.”

Can someone please advise on my next step?
The story so far...
Received bank statements,
Sent total charges plus interest to bank,
Received a PHONE CALL asking for my sort code and said they would be in touch with a claim shortly,
Received a letter today which says:
"We are currently considering your claim. Given the work involved in assessing your claim, we anticipate that we will be in a position to respond within 6-7 weeks, but will endeavour to do so sooner if we are able to."
!!!
It's not been well over 14 days since I sent the request - more like 30.
Should I just proceed with the next step?0 -
When you claim against the bank do you write to your local branch or the head office?0

Hi Pam
Is this all you sent back to Cobbetts when they filed a defence? And did you send it to the court also?
I've received a defence back from Cobbetts so i'm just working on the next steps now. Any idea of the timescale now?
Thanks
When I sent that letter to Cobbetts, I also enclosed a copy of the spreadsheet listing all the charges (which had been sent previously to Natwest and to Northampton County Court). I also sent a copy of it to my local County Court, to be filed with my claim.
I've no idea how long it takes from now onwards - just a question of waiting til I get a letter from Court to give me a date for my case. Haven't heard a peep from [strike]Cobblers [/strike]oops Cobbetts since.
I'm getting pretty tired of waiting for my money - all this stalling for time on behalf of the bank is really irritating

They had until today to defend my claim on MCOL and did it at the very last minute. Very sneaky!
And waiting for me at home after work was a nice fat letter from Cobbetts, full of big words and legal jargon.
Bring it on!!
