  • This is how mean Natwest are...

Our Child tax benefit was paid in today, no sooner was it cleared and Natwest was taking it as a charge £38 again! Why, because my acount was £1.27 overdrawn

I can't wait for my claim to come through, it's just a matter of justice for me

Sorry for hijacking your thread, hope everything is sorted for your son, I am sure it will after reading other members success stories.

  • andycantoo- Have you heard of the right of Apropriation---it relates to benefits. They cannot take them.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

  • Well...Here We go

I've been reading about this for a couple of months and finally plucked up the courage to go for it. Do I really need to pluck up the courage to get back what's rightfully mine??
Anyway got my statements back at the start of Jan and surprisingly ( I used to be rubbish with money until I met the Missus ) I am only due back about £800 of charges...approx £1000 with interest.

I'll be sending my letter asking ( demanding !) my money back on Monday.

    Wish me luck !

    Just remember: it's a dance!

There's lots of mail sent by the NW that's designed to just waste time, as they like to hang onto your money for as long as possible.

#1: Follow the procedures .. don't buckle if they put up a defence ( .. of which, they probably will) .. get your AQ filled out ( .. remember to ask for Standard Disclosure) and wait for the court date.

#2: Don't be scared .. especially by mail from Cobbetts.

#3: It's highly unlikely that they'll actually meet that court date.

#4: Remember that when that court date arrives: the nightmare will have already been over for at least a couple of days ( .. yes, they do like to leave you on the edge of your seat for as long as possible).

I hope this helps to allay any fears for anyone reading this thread.

  • Just after a bit of advice here, I have claimed bank charges back from Nat west on 3 of my accounts. First one went well, repaid in full but other 2 had to file court action.
I filled out the forms on money claim online on different days and on the first account i put the claim amount of £700 by mistake as it was ment to be £420 and that was paid before they had acknowledged the claim so I said nothing.:o
last account was filed for £700, the correct amount, and they didn't acknowledge this one in 14 days so i get a call from the bank on Friday querying why they have had two claims from me for the same amount....... i didnt know what to say so said i would have to call back on Monday.

Anyone got any advice, can they not pay the full amount for the second claim, or with hold payment, or request the extra back, or is it tough on the bank for not realising it was the wrong amount??????

    Any comments would be great
    Cheers

Hi my son sent off the first letter requesting charges etc by recorded delivery on the 2nd January, encloseing a cheque for £10 from my account to cover the costs.
He is now over his OD limit due to their 'interest charges' making him 67p over for 3 days,so they added £30!!!!!

My cheque hasn't been cashed yet, should it have been?
Reading the other posts no one seems to wait long to get the charges list.

How long should we wait and will it be a problem as the cheque comes from my account?

    Thanks in advance
