  • Wait until you send your next letter depending on your timescale and you can add it in to your claim then.

I have finally got a response from Natwest, I sent of the first letter and they made me an offer which I declined, I then sent the second letter threatening court action, I herd nothing for weeks until today, I filed a claim online with the courts on Tuesday and in came a letter today from Nawest dated the 5th apologising for the delay in responding and that they are looking into the matter. Is this just a coincidence? If not what happens next

I also got one of these "holding" letters, but sadly its too late - i've issued claim form for over £2500. i didn't get any sort of offer! Bit concerned now that they will defend the claim, they have 14 days to do this. fingers crossed but geting a little scary !

Hmmm.. Thought I was on top of this whole thing, so started a claim against the natwest branch, then read the above.

Phoned claim online who advised me to send in the claim again (by post), but with a request for a "court sealed address change" Was fairly standard, but will obviously delay the whole process.

Other than the delay, does anyone know of any other possible repercussions?

    Thanks

    Steve

    ps. Still very confident (99.9%)

i did this too by accident but rang up the court and they credited the court fee, cancelled the online claim and simply asked me to resubmit with a new address - surprised they didnt make more of a meal of it. within 10 mins , new claim form out, had it confirmed today and clock is ticking on the banks asses.

  • I came home today to exactly the same kind of letter: "I am sorry that we have not yet been able to respond to you and would ask that you bear with us meantime. We are currently investigating and will respond to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience to date."

Well, the reason I got so many penalty charges deducted from my bank account is that a year ago I left my job to go freelance and it took me 12 months to build up a client base big enough to stabilise my finances. Many times I explained to NatWest what I was doing and I distinctly remember using the words "please bear with me." Did they? NO! So I shall now be delighted to treat them as they treated me.

The deadline I gave them runs out in 2 days. I shall send them a letter tomorrow morning pointing out the fact that a) they expect from me what I never got from them, b) they posted their letter so close to the deadline that they obviously don't take my intention to take them to court seriously - they're WRONG, and c) they've deducted three more penalty charges since receiving my claim.

Of course, I'll be generous and will give them more time to 'investigate'... but it'll only be a further two days from the date they I expect them to receive this reply... then it's off to the claims court I go!

  • Tasty snacks, NatWest has never had a habit of closing accounts as retaliatory action for someone claiming bank charges.

i gathered as much from the stories on the other thread. however, as more and more people take action, who knows what may transpire? as holding a rbs group act. is part of the deal, it just gives me more firepower!

i was speaking to someone today within the group, who said that within rbs they were looking at whether business act. holders who were claiming against charges, may be counter charged, criminally, on the basis that they attempted to defraud the bank and the person receiving payment. have you heard anything about this on your side?

    Thank you :)

If I'm lucky and they settle up in one go - fingers tightly crossed - what do I do then?

  • I am in the process of doing this.

I first wrote asking for copy bank statements. Which i received within the timescale (i didnt even have to pay for them!!!).

I then listed all my charges etc, dates, what they where for and the amounts. I sent this with a letter which i got from this website together with the consumer group website and gave them 14 days to reply with regards to crediting me back with the money. That was 10 days ago and today i have received a letter stating " I am sorry that we have not yet been able to respond to you and would ask that you bear with us in the meantine. We are currently investigating and will respond to you as soon as possible".

What i was going to ask, was do they stilll have to do this within the fourteen days or have the sent this to give them more time......

I hope that it goes well for you.

I reclaimed bank charges from Bank of Scotland account about 2 years ago, well before everyone else got on the band wagon. Back then it was easier as there were not so many claimants etc. I received all the charges back plus interest. Since then i have got friends, neighbours and even my boss doing it......

  • Just successfully reclaimed £280 of £420 requested from Barclays so now I'm going to see where I get with NatWest. Have sent my letter off today requesting statements and will keep you posted.
