Congratulations Baggiebird, how long from start to finish did it take you?0

Just got home to find the 'please bear with us' letter from Nat west, I sent my first letter off last week the charges total £2956.00 with interest I have asked them to repay £3611.57.
This website has been great, my partner heard about it on radio 2.
On looking through my statements I realised that on one occassion I had been charged over £70 for a £4 direct debit. I know I have not been great with money but thats because their is always too much month at the end of the money.
I have had major problems with the C.S.A not paying me and with working family tax credit along with other issues that have caused me to be in the red. I do not remember the bank bearing with me, in my time of need ( despite the fact that I have lowered myself to pleading with them on occassions).
My 2nd letter will go out next Thursday, I beleive they have had ample time.0 -
Hiya,
Since September I have been charged a total £217 (small frys I know, but I’m a student, and GASP! I have no money) with Natwest for “unarranged borrowing” initially where my £500 current/acc o/d was exceeded by £1.65 and “unauthorized transactions – card misuse” where they took so long to process previous transactions that I ended up exceeding the o/d by mistake that snowballed with £28.00/month charges.
Have got the current account back to zero and want my money back. Now. (lol) but… I also have a Natwest student account with a £1400 o/d which is usually permanently o/d but not maxed out and I really don’t want to lose my student account with Natwest.
So, should I reclaim the charges or not?
Any suggestions?
Cheers,

18th December sent 1st letter requesting refund so less than a month including Christmas! I only waited a couple of weeks for my statements too. They did promise me yesterday that the money would be in my account today but it isn't and trying to get them on the phone is as easy as plaiting fog. Will keep at them though! We finally did it! Debt free 28/6/10 :T  :T :beer:0 -
Received standard letter to say that they are looking into the charges before they respond fully to my request for a refund.
Do they still have to do this within the 14 days (which was 3rd Jan when i sent letter) or are they stalling for more time....
Help would be gratefully appreciated.:rotfl:"Penny Pinching Winch"

I also recieved a letter from Natwest saying that they were sorry for the delay and that they will get back to me ASAP after recieving my letter, that was my intial letter, I have sent them the final letter and it has past the 7 days response time, they have just ignored my threat to take them to court!!! My account has a 300 pound overdraft limit, I am currently 290.00 into it, so i am fine. However unable or just plain ignorong my letters stating they do not have time, they do have time however for the first time ever since I have banked with them, and unusally about the time my first letter for claim was sent to them to send me 3 letters, saying my count was not usually ran like this and it is concerning them, they have sent 3 letters to that effect, the last one today up to now this is the 4th letter, however this one say's if I dont sort my account they will send it to a debt recovery agency??
coincidence...?? that I started getting these letters since i filed for my money back??
Well the last letter I sent threatning them with court in 7 days has been ignored, but me like a fool, forgot to send this one to my branch via registered mail.
Anybody have any suggestions as to my next step? Also can i recalculate what they owe with interest everyday, for example can i re-enter the original figures in the moneysavingexpert calculator today, and send them the revised figure, or does it have to be the original figure at the start?

Thanks for all your help, in advance!!0 -
sp3ndaholic- I see you are a student, if you had had the NW student account the only charge they would have taken was for returning an item as all others are exempt from the NW student account. That said, claim em back0

hi,i am thinking about reclaiming my bank charges over the last six years which would be quite substancial,i am with natwest,2 years ago i had to take a personal loan of £5000 to put my buisness account back in the black, most of that 5000 was due to bank charges, once i took the loan they closed my buisness account so i am paying the loan through my current account,my worry is that if i do make a claim will they close my account and also call in the loan?can anyone help:beer:0

Your loan should be a different agreement but they can and sometimes do close your account so you need to be aware this may happen and arrange another account incase this happens.0
