The only response that I recieved, fairly promptly was the statements within the time frame. I have sent four to five letters as per Martin's templates and eventually placed a claim with MCOL. Still no repsonse . I tried telephoning,to no avail.Somone on this sight gave me an email number so I tried this prior to my hols. Whoopee !! A REPLY .It took them 9 days to say " We acknowledge your email and have passed it on to the appropriate dept" That was on the 7 /8/or 9th May
Have returned from hols tonight 18 th Mayand still no further emails
Nat west have acknowledged the MCOL claim and have until 25th to file a defence
I am tempted to respond to any defence or letter form Cobbetts " I acknowledge your letter"
However I am in a panic as there has been a complete silence, not even a partial offer and have returned from hols to read about the LLoyds win
I've followed this thread for a few months now - I get the sense that Natwest are digging their heels in more and more just recently. They seem to be defending claims as the norm, or so it seems to me. I don't follow the other bank threads though - maybe it's the same there as well.
As I've said all along, phone calls/emails are pretty much a waste of time - the right hand doesn't know what the left's doing in that bank.
I don't think we need to be too concerned about the Lloyds Bank win - it doesn't set any legal precedent.

I sent my letter asking for the charges back to Credit Management Services in Telford.
Today, only 3 days later (impressive!), I received a letter from them saying they're sorry to hear that I think the charges are unfair and that they've passed the letter to Customer Relations in Hertfordshire. They also enclosed a Complains leaflet.
Has anybody had one of these before? Are they trying to palm me off or is it nothing to worry about?
Cheers!0 -
Thanks for this message.
Now had a sleep and feel a little less vulnerable and more so with your message
Returned to find even more charges and interest gone on Prob should not have gone on hol but I have been trying to keep within limits but I am fighting a losing battle
Put a much needed £30 in last month to keep within OD limit Then found that they had added £40 over the O/Draft charge + approx £40 interst -Result over the Od and more charges Lost the deposited £ 30 which had been renedered useless by the additional charges
Defence isdue 25th May - Should I now update and revise my claim due to more chrges and interest since my initial calculations and claimor leave the original claim as is??0 -

I'm afraid to say it is probably the first of many stalling tactics by the bank. You might sit around for weeks waiting to hear from Customer Relations who will probably just say they are 'looking into it' blah blah.
Have a read of Martins article about reclaiming charges - you can either follow the template letters which set out timescales for your letters, or go directly to the Financial Ombudsman who will take it up with the Bank on your behalf.
Good luck!

Hi all and apologies but I have not managed to trawl through all 170 pages of this thread.
The Natwest have kindly sent me 6 years worth of bank statements (which arrived in a ripped envelope but that is a whole other thread)
Could someone please tell me, in simple terms, EXACTLY what I am able to claim back and what to ignore??
Many thanks!!0 -

Hi Pam,
Both letters I sent were template letters. I'll wait for 14 days and then contact the Financial Ombudsman then?0 -

Hi - am not sure of the answer to this, so hope someone else will come along who knows more about it. I vaguely remember reading something about needing to amend your claim - I think if you ring the MCOL helpline they'll explain what you need to do.

If you're deciding not to go down the Court route, yes
