Hiya
Thanks to all of the help and advice on this site I have just sent off my 1st letters to Nat West claiming back my bank charges, obviously am hoping all goes smoothly, (although nothing in my life goes the easy route!!!).
My query is about credit card charges. Over the last 6 years I had 8 credit cards all getting the normal charges!!! I have paid off most of them but am now left with 2 - pretty good job eh, for a single parent with 2 kids!!
HOW CAN I CLAIM BACK THE CHARGES ON MY "ALL PAID" ACCOUNTS WHICH ARE NOW CLOSED???
and How do I get all of the details of the charges from the 2 I still owe money too? so that I can reclaim them??
Thanks0 -
I Took In My First Letter Requesting Bank Charges And Interest Of Just Under £2500 In To My Local Natwest Branch, (who Said They'd Forward To The Correct Place.) Last Wednesday. I've Just Rang The 0800 No, To See If It Had Been Received, I Was On Hold For About 20 Mins Grrrr.. They Said At First It Hadn't, But Then Said Their Systems Only Update Every 2 Weeks So They May Have It And It May Be Being Dealt With But It Wouldnt Be On Their Sytems Till Next Week And To Ring Back Then (and Be Put On Hold For A Further 20 Mins No Doubt) Just Got To Wait Now I Guess.. I'll Let You Know How It Goes..
P.s I Phoned My Online Banking For My Statements And They Were With Me Within The Week.. Might Be Better Than Writing If You Have The Option.. And Only £5 Not £10
Good Luck To You All Trying

they have taken a lot of charges from tax credits payments from me and in november i broke my leg badly and have just got out of my pot, i had to claim incapacity benefit for a while and some charges were taken from this..
If its true i will contact FO and add it on to my complaint..
Many thanks

jonun, if you go onto page 148 and look at what kurt-hamster has wrote, there is something there about contravening social security administration act 1992 section 187, hope that is of some help.
i have made a decision NOT to make any more phonecalls, its making me to stressed. i am going away on 29th, i have even told my son if a letter comes to open it and text me in spain, is that sad or what.0 -

Hi, new to the site yesterday with the chat thing!. But do you advise to ring up and chase the banks re refunds of charges looking for ££4849 with £1147.04 in interest and logged money online claim and the Natwest sent me an offer on the day they acknowledged the claim which was outside of my 14 day second letter and after I had started proceedings. Now looks like they are entering a defence got till 28th May to do this, am very worried now as we are small business and this could make or break us.
Any suggestions or words of wisdom gratefully received.0 -

it appears that if you phone them they will tell you anything, so i have given up telephoning. you will probably get your offer just before the court date as this seems to be happening, but good luck0 -

It's a user calling themselves WiseInvestor, who seems to take delight in making patronising comments to people who are obviously in distress, something which, to put it mildly, I find extremely unhelpful. He's also against people claiming back their charges -- he say that banks have every right to charge what they do.
I fail to understand why someone like that would come onto a site which is explicity aimed at helping consumers stand up for their rights and proving that banks have been scamming us for all these years. He's obviously a 'troll', someone who just likes to see their own posts on a site and who gets his kicks out of winding people up.
Really sorry to hear that you've had no progress. If you're worried about the expense of MCOL, I'm wondering whether it might be a good idea to talk to your local county court, or even the Citizens Advice Bureau, explain the situation and see if your local court will accept a staged or deferred payment or something.
But the problem is, as my own case shows, even if you go to MCOL or any other court, there's no guarantee that your case will actually get a quick result, and it could certainly be a good month or more before you get any progress.
Unfortunately, I know it's nice to be able to 'splurge' a bit when on holiday, but under the circumstances, like most of us here I suspect, you're going to have to focus on it just being a break, and plan for next year's holiday to be something more exciting.
If you need something to help keep you calm and focused, I find Paul McKenna's relaxation stuff really helpful, and good for self-esteem too. You'll probably have seen him on the telly helping people to break weird habits and phobias, and he did that very successful weight loss thing too. Go to Paul Mckenna training here and on the left hand side of the page you'll see a button for "FREE trance download".
Don't worry, it's nothing weird, and won't have you stripping off and robbing the local shop! It's just very calming and helpful. If you've got headphones, and can burn it onto a CD or load onto an MP3 player or something, I find that just lying down for 20 minutes with it is excellent for de-stressing.
