  • I am/was with advantage gold however I never requested it. The only time I had advantage gold mentioned to me I was told that it was free. If I tried to claim for a fee that I shouldn't would that void my entire claim?

    Thanks

It shouldn't void your claim they would just deduct it from the amount payable, but I wouldn't try and claim for it with the unfair bank charges.

The advantage gold part of the account is what entitles you to an overdraft, if you have never used the overdraft you would probably have a case to claim the money back, and although you say you were told the advantage gold account was free they probably told you that £6 was going to be charged at some point ,but hid it in aload of bumf about their terms and conditions.

I did claim for some charges which I think may have been refunded but only because I couldn't work out which refunds related to which charges  they paid out for these, probably because they couldn't work it out either!

If you do still want to claim these fees back then personally I'd do it seperately.

....From some of the posts on here they sound like they are getting really stubborn about these claims asking for all kinds of info - they must be loosing out paying cobbetts all that money to send these letters to people - i just dont know why they just dont pay up in the first place instead of letting it get that far.

Im sure you'll hear something soon good luck x

That's just how I feel also - why are they spending money defending claims when they usually just back down at the last minute and settle in full !! I say 'usually' because the case in the papers today has really depressed me _pale_

    Hi All,

Please can i have some views on my case with Natwest:

    22/02/2007 Requested Statements

    Charges: £1,543
    Interest: £516

19/03/2007 1st Request for charges plus interest
21/03/2007 received by royal mail recorded delivery
    NO RESPONSE

13/04/2007 2nd request for charges plus interest
16/04/2007 received by royal mail recorded delivery
    NO RESPONSE

01/05/2007 Claim issued on Moneyclaim website
    06/05/2007 Claim served to Natwest

I phoned Natwest today and was told that a letter will be sent to me by 25th May stating that they will settle as ‘full and final offer’ of £1,450. Which is below the £1,543 they charged in the first place! Not happy as this is under the

The letter i got from the County Court gave until the 20th of May for Natwest to reply.

Will this letter, that i'm told will come to me after the 20th, act as the reply or does it have to go thru the court. I'd imagine the latter.

If the latter, what happens next. Do i enter judgement on the moneyclaim website as no response so the court will award in my favor?

If so what then happens? Anyone had experiance of this?

    Thanks

    Matt

Hi Matt - now that your claim is in the Court system, Nawest MUST reply by the 20th. If they don't, then you can apply for a judgement by default. Take no notice of them having said verbally that they'll reply to you by 25th May with a 'full and final offer' (which in any event is less than you're claiming) - especially as that was said to you over the phone. They seem to tell a different story each time you phone, which is why I never bothered after one phone conversation.
They are no longer in any position to dictate terms to you !!

    Good luck,
    Pam

I sent my letters to Natwest as I should, and have received my bank statements, but no acknowledgement of the other 2 letters. They now have until Friday to reply, or I will be taking court action.

Q1 - What is the address that I should enter on MCOL for Natwest?

Q2 - I'm worried they will say they didn't receive the letters, even though the second one, stating I will be taking court action in 14 days, was sent by recorded delivery, should I be concerned?

Q3 - Should I phone or email customer relations to confirm they have received my letters and to ask why they have not replied?

Q4 - Are different branches taking different approaches, my husbands branch have sent a letter saying they are looking into his claim?

    Thanks so much

    1) NATIONAL WESTMINSTER BANK PLC
    135 BISHOPSGATE
    LONDON
    EC2M 3UR

    2) Check on the royal mail website to see if the items have been recieved. If the second one has then continue with your timetable.

    3) It can be normal for some banks not to reply to either letter and only reply once you have filled in a claim online.

    4) Branch take same approach as your request will be dealt with a particular department so all that will happen is your request will be forwarded to them.

Is it usual for banks to seemingly ignore the first two letters even though they were handed in at our branch?
Received £4541 reclaimed from Natwest :j:T

I'm afraid that's pretty typical of the banks. At a later date in the reclaiming process they will probably claim to have sent out acknowledgements which of course you will never see.
Best to send any correspondance to the bank by registered/signed-for delivery.

    hi all,

I requested my 6 years of statements on the 2nd april got them in 7 days later..sent 1st letter 11th april..no response, 2nd letter sent 25th april no response..reported to Fo last week(wednesday) ..
what did i receive through the post today...? another 6 years of statements>>!!
They havent got a clue what they are doing??
m really really annoyed at this..i get no acknowledgement at all to any of my letters and 6 weeks later i get my statements again!!!I just hope they have charged my account for these statements and there will be hell on!!
On a lighter note i also received a letter from Fo today saying that they had received my complaint and would get back to me with a more detailed response within 14 days!!
