  • I have received my statements from Natwest but am confused as to what charges I can reclaim. Some are clear, e.g. referral fees etc, but some charges are just called charges. These charges vary from £9 to £20 but I'm not clear what they refer to. I seem to remember paying Natwest a fee each month and in return they charged me less interest? What would happen if I reclaim charges that I'm not entitled to?

You really do need to sort out what they are. I know that this means extra time and trouble now, but this could make things a lot easier when it gets to the court stage. You do not want to leave any chink in your armour for the bank or their solicitors to be able to take advantage of.

I would suggest writing back to them for clarification. Writing means that their reply - especially if unhelpful - will also be on record. If so, you can then show that you were given no option other than to claim for them all.

In fact, if you have to list the "Charges" as just that, I would almost guarantee the bank's solicitors would challenge them, asking for more information. However, if your documentation shows that you asked for this in the beginning, and it wasn't provided ... I'd love to be a fly on the courtroom wall!

I have not made phone calls. Why should i. Submitted to MCON after first two letters being ignored. Now i have the court papers transferred to local court with Cobbetts defending full claim. They did not reply to the fist two letters, then offer of refund of the charges without court fee or interest. I have kept to the time scale. I did reply to the COBBETTS request for further information and clarification. I now need to know the time scale when it goes to court or if they will make an offer before the court date. I feel i may be the unlucky one who they may make an example of. Any coments?????????

    Hi All
Just wondering if anyone can answer the question i put in my earlier post about the bank
since i wrote the first and second letter claiming £4387 (which they have ignored) the Natwest have increased the way they are charging and from the 1st of apiril have added another £462 of charges
When i go to moneyclaim on thursday do i add the extra £462 or do i have to start the process again because i havent asked the natwest for that amount?
Received £4541 reclaimed from Natwest :j:T

Hi - I'd definitely claim all the charges plus interest on MCOL.

Hiya Jen - still waiting to hear whether or not they're going to put in a defence - the deadline is the 20th, so only a few more days to wait. Just hoping I don't have to deal with all the Cobbetts letters! I really could do with my money back, like all of us.

    thanks for asking,
    Pam

Its a bloody pain in the !*@$ isnt it - well mine is in its 8th week so they have until the end of this week to send my offer letter out before i file my claim with MCOL which i could do without doing! Hope i get some good news in the post.

From some of the posts on here they sound like they are getting really stubborn about these claims asking for all kinds of info - they must be loosing out paying cobbetts all that money to send these letters to people - i just dont know why they just dont pay up in the first place instead of letting it get that far.

Im sure you'll hear something soon good luck x

Hi, i must admit i agree with you, as alot of there letters are saying it will cost them more for court, solicitors etc, surely it would be better for them to just pay, also they get charged from the fos.

good luck to you both, fingers crossed this week

I take it you havent heard anything either? I think from what i got told the other day by customer services that they are up to claims started around the week commencing the 19th March so fingers crossed i will have my offer letter this week.

I also asked if you could fax the offer letter back to them and they said they can fax them out but not receive them back by fax! Strange that one!

So it looks like it has to be send by post and i just hope it doesnt take them ages to put the money in your account.

This has been a big long drag - hope i dont have as much hassle with the CC companies now :(
