  • I received an offer for the full amount of my charges on 5 April 2007, after reading certain messages on here I made sure I returned the signed agreement by recorded delivery, which I did on the 10th April 2007, and have proof that natWest received my letter on 12th April. A week later on the 18th I phoned to check progress they said that they had received my agreement and that payment would be made 14 days after they received the letter. A week later I went to my local branch as I still had not received any money, they phoned borehamwood for me and said no it should be 14 working days so the money will be in your account next week, if it's not there phone this number etc. So a week later I still have no money and today phoned them again, first they said yes the money should be in your account any day now, don't know when but it could be this afternoon! I then phoned back and spoke to someone else in order to tell them that unless the money was in my account by end of today I was reporting them to the FO, this time I was told the money was paid on 18 April! but they don't know where it's gone as it obviously didn't go into my account! After questioning me if i had any other debts with BOS which i haven't they said that they will investigate it and get back to me in the next 5 working days. I AM LIVID! I went to my branch who also phoned them and came back with the same story they said sorry but you've got to give them chance to investigate! If they'd checked it 2 weeks ago they'd have had plenty of time to investigate.

So moral of the story, keep phoning them and go to your local branch if possible, until they finally cough up!

Meanwhile I'm writing to the FO to complain and applying to another bank for change of use of an account so I can tell NatWest idiots where to go once I have my money.

    Not a happy bunny tonight!

Hi Can I reclaim charges from a closed account?
I still have the statements and I've worked out that I'm owed a fair bit.
Do I still follow the same guidelines, or should I go down a different route - I closed the account due to poor customer service by the way.
    Thanks
  • would they log it on the system that i have telephoned and what i said, or do they do nothing....

They have to log every call made to them and what was said, else they won't be complying with the Data Protection Act.

I get this rammed down my throat everyday at work! (I work in finance, but not for a bank)

I got a notice from the Court today - 'Notice that Acknowledgement of Service has been filed'. I got a copy of it, and Cobbetts Solicitors have indicated they intend to defend all of my claim. Bear in mind that a week ago - a week after the claim was served on them - they offered me a goodwill payment that equalled the amount I was reclaiming in fees.

I know they do this all the time, that they don't usually follow it through and are highly unlikely to appear in court, but boy, I feel sick to the stomach this morning
Great start (not) to the holiday weekend. I know I'll rally round and I'm not giving in now, though.

Yes - you can! Any charges that were imposed over the last 6 years can be claimed, whether the account has been closed or not. I'm about to claim some back from Halifax and that account was closed around 3 years ago.

  • I have sent my letter to Natwest and they sent me a letter back last week saying they were looking in to it. How long did it take them to reply to you about what they intended to do?

Pam - your posts have been very reassuring to many reclaimers and I, for one, hope you will not despair now.

Cobbetts  are probably affiliated to RBS/NatWest I'm sure that Rick and Viv would label all banks and their flunkies as 'utter, utter, utter b*******!!!!'

Chin up, shoulders back - you know what you're doing is right and they're wrong and if they don't appear I hope the judge sticks it to them!

We're all rooting for you

Just think, we ARE going for lunch when you get your money, what more encouragement do you need :rotfl:

Seriously, I couldn't have got through the tough days without my Matey (thats you!) you are a star & fantastic with advice, take a spoonful of your own medicine, if it helps have a read at YOUR own advice you have given others, pretend it's someone else saying it to you ;).

Think positive & have a fantastic weekend knowing you have the upper hand on the bank :T
