I want to add some new information to the boards that is only half done by me and specifically relates to accounts that are closed or where you may not have the account number.
There is an important reason that the account must have been open prior to Ocober 4th 2002 which is because natwest computer systems changed to rbs group PLC systems.
You do need your sort code and post code at the point the account was open, and the codes the bank use is Back Office 04 26 45 and 01 or 02 which then give a further 12 options one of which is locating an account.
It is becoming well known that our DPA team are not aware of this information so i hope if they read this site they will have enlightened themselve by the info.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

I have added this again but please stop sending the reclaim bank charges letters to the branch, we just forward them onto customer relations unit borehamwood. And DPA letters, go to the address in edinburgh(the cornerstone one). Please read the letter carefully, some letters say enclosed is £10 statutory fee that seems to have been neither enclosed nor written.
    Thanks

Sorry for the dumb question. I've finally got the majority of my statements, bar approx 15 pages (can't be bothered to chase those, Natwest have f**ked me about enough trying to get the statements I have already) and have totalled up my charges.

When you send the letter asking for the charges back, how have you listed them? By the date and amount charged?

Also, can someone be so kind to paste the addy to send my letter to Natwest to? I can't find it on the forum and am going round and round in circles trying to find the post with all the bank addresses on.

    Many thanks!

Address for sending your 1st letter asking for charges:

    National Westminster House
    225 Shenley Road
    Borehamwood
    WD6 1TE

Here is the thread for most of the info you need, good luck :D

I got a notice from the Court today - 'Notice that Acknowledgement of Service has been filed'. I got a copy of it, and Cobbetts Solicitors have indicated they intend to defend all of my claim. Bear in mind that a week ago - a week after the claim was served on them - they offered me a goodwill payment that equalled the amount I was reclaiming in fees.

I know they do this all the time, that they don't usually follow it through and are highly unlikely to appear in court, but boy, I feel sick to the stomach this morning
Great start (not) to the holiday weekend. I know I'll rally round and I'm not giving in now, though.

Pam (in need herself of some moral support)

    Hi Pam

Jayne here. I think we have exchanged notes in the past. Im at the same stage as you, probably just a couple of weeks ahead. I have my court date with Cobbetts on 4 July. Im no expert, but if I can give any help let me know. I was nervous too but its done now - just hoping they will pay out before the court date! Chin up!! Jayne G.
Nat West - MCOL March - FatWest defended - hearing date 4 July - 2300 claimed and still having charges put onto account!!

HSBC - sent 14 day - still waiting for reply. MCOL by end of week - claiming 795 - eventually paid out £560.

Halifax - sent for statements Feb - cheque cashed - nothing received - reported to FSA - paid up almost amount claimed before official complaint registered with FSA

I know how frustrating it is, as I had a long wait for my statements too !
Just take comfort in the fact that you can reclaim every single charge for returned DD's etc - EVERY SINGLE ONE !! :T :T And if they don't send you those statements in the 40 days then you can report them to the Information Commissioner :T

    Pam

hi, I love this site and you seemto know your stuff, I go through these replies and am glad there is people like you egging us along, my statements arrived Saturday morning in a battered envelope whats up with natwest other people I have read says there's come in the same state, anyway all in all they owe me from 2004 till now £2,856 thats without intrest so now I am writing the first letterto ask for it back, thanks julie.

Hi Julie - I enclosed a spreadsheet with my letter which listed
    • date of charge
    • type of charge (e.g. returned DD)
    • amount
and totalled up the full amount. I kept hold of the statements incase I needed them for any other reason e.g. it's been useful having those 6 yrs of statements to check up on other things, esp for reclaiming charges purposes.

    Good luck!

Hi Jayne - thanks for your post!
I've been having a good read in the 'successes' thread, so that's really got my resolve and optimism back again. I think they often pay up before the actual court date from all I'm reading, so lets hope that happens to us !
Keep me posted how you get on,

    Pam
