  • I have just submitted my papers to court, but i have had not one reply from the natwest?? but i think i may have made a bit of a boo boo, i have claimed £12 since dec 06 for bank charges, and i have an Advantage Gold account. I have just been informed that is is a fee for having a good bank account??
I have has this account for four years and they only started charging me in Dec so i though it was a reduced bank charge?
    What do I do???

  • hi Juliebro,
You need to write your letter and send a seperate list of your bank charges stating date and amount, dont send back your statements they are your evidence.
    good luck

    hi
    my tale of frustration
24/02/2007 sent letter to local natwest asking for statements for personnal account.
    12/03/2007 recieved 6 years statements
17/03/2007 hand delivered (but no proof) letter claiming 1324.00 inc interest
17/03/2007 hand delivered (but no proof) letter requesting 6 yrs statements on joint account.
12/04/2007 recieved 1 years statements on joint account
14/04/2007 hand delivered (but no proof) template letter 3 to local nat west asking for 1324 to be repaid.
14/04/2007 hand delivered (AGAIN no proof) letter asking for remaining 5 yrs statements of joint account.
30/04/2007 phoned local branch to see if they have recieved any of my letters, to be told there system was down that day but they would look into it. they contacted me on 02/05/2007 to say they had nothing on record that they had recieved my letters and that i should have addressed them to the manager of the branch otherwise they get sent to a mail openning address somewhere. They were appologetic and basically said there was nothing they could and i should try again. It seems that you must get something to proove that they have recieved these letters. next time i will send recorded delivary to boreham wood address and eliminate our local hick branch.
hope this might speed up someone in there claim

    frustrated but not beaten
  • I have added this again but please stop sending the reclaim bank charges letters to the branch, we just forward them onto customer relations unit borehamwood. And DPA letters, go to the address in edinburgh(the cornerstone one). Please read the letter carefully, some letters say enclosed is £10 statutory fee that seems to have been neither enclosed nor written.
    Thanks
You havent mentioned on here that Natwest only charge £5 for this service anyway!!

Its really disgraceful that Natwest Bank should claim they haven't seen those letters. Its funny how they always seem to receive the claims that are served on them from Northampton County Court.
They tried to do the same with me, til I pointed out I had electronic proof my letters had been signed for. Funny how those letters 'reappeared' when they wrote eventually offering a partial refund.
No need for me to suggest sending them recorded/signed for delivery. Good luck with your claim!

    Hi Pam,
Did you get the offer of a goodwill payment in writing?

Is this 'defence' just a delaying tactic because at this stage they have nothing to lose?
Are they turning the screw to ratchet up the pressure on the claimant and
    increase stress?
Are they hoping that some new legal loophole will emerge or ruling will be given that will release them from responsibility for some or all of the charges or mean we have to start all over?
My NatWest overdraft is very nearly the same amount as I am reclaiming -
I'd love to be free of RBS/Natwest.

Hi all, i need of a little help with something.

My claim has been acknowledged and i am assuming Natwest will defend and am expecting what seems to be the usual letter from their solicitor asking for the list of charges, how i worked out my interest, which laws i am referring to etc etc. I also wanted to send a copy of this to MCOL to be attatched to the particulars of my claim. My problem is with the interest, when i made my original request for my charges i didn't include interest, so just typed out the list of charges without using Martins calculator. Then when i put my claim in with MCOL i used the calculator to work out the interest on that day,17th April, but didn't save or print a copy. So i know the overall amount of interest for my claim but don't have a breakdown of it for each charge (hope you understand what I'm talking about) If i now use the calculator to work out the interest and print this to send to them it will give me a different figure as the interest will have gone up since making my claim.
What should i do? Help please.:o
  • Hi _ Thanks to all - I got my charges back & am now helping 3 others to do it ( why are people so reluctant) it was a bit like a slow dance with someone who doesn't like you - but stick with it - Thanks to everyone on this site for their help & encouragement

I think it'd be fine to just send in a list of the charges and interest as at the date you're sending it in to MCOL. Actually, that's what I should have done - the list I'd sent in was a couple of weeks old, and the interest will have gone up anyway.
Once the claims are hopefully proved in our favour, I'm wondering if the Courts automatically work out the interest due, on the day of the judgement. I did ask that question here on the forum a while back, but no-one came back to me on it.
